I pray for the affected families and for the CSR families in the area. May God provide peace that passes understanding to all for the actions of these two individuals.

I'm still in complete shock.....why would anyone shoot a child? All of us need to take time to pray for these families, while there is nothing we can do to help, we still should support them in any way we can, even if it's just a shoulder to cry on. This twenty year olds maker will punish him, let's not worry over his actions. Our worry should be for those who have lost a loved one.

I have a buddy that has a kid in that school. He put it best by saying he was "numb". Glad to say his daughter is ok. But my prayers go out to all the families affected by this horrible tragedy.

I am in shock of the way things are now days, This is crazy, Shoot up an elementary school? Prayers go to all families involved and hope the shooter rots in hell for his actions.

LK

My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to all involved.

the shooter may just be "crazy" as we do not have facilities for mentally ill any more. We just put them in our communities. How can one be anymore mentally ill than this?

God help us all,

MM

maybe this world NEEDS to end on 12-21-12 so these sick bastards
can get thier special place in hell a little bit sooner.

WTF is wrong with people today? I can't even fathom what is going through that sick bastards mind!! This saddens me and angers me beyond my limits. I think we need public hangings & stonings! We coddle the criminals in this country and make excuses for them.

This is all so senseless, killing innocent children. May that POS burn in hell for eternity!

Fox News

DEVELOPING: Authorities say at least 26 people, including 20 children, were killed Friday when a gunman clad in black military gear opened fire inside a Connecticut elementary school. The shooter, identified as 24-year-old Ryan Lanza, lived in Hoboken, N.J., and had ties to Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. He was found dead inside the school, according to officials.

A source told Fox News that Lanza's mother and father, who were divorced, were also killed. It's not clear whether Lanza's mother, a teacher at the school, was killed there or at another location. Lanza's girlfriend and another friend are missing in New Jersey, according to law enforcement sources. Local news outlets report that the shooting occurred inside a kindergarten classroom, and that all the pupils in that classroom are unaccounted for.

An official with knowledge of the situation said the shooter was armed with a .223-caliber rifle. Four weapons in total were recovered from the scene. The motive is not yet known. Police are also questioning another person in connection with the shooting. Witnesses told the Connecticut Post that a handcuffed man, dressed in camouflage, was led out of a nearby woods by officers. The individual is Lanza's younger brother, according to the Associated Press.

Lanza is a 2006 graduate of Newtown High School. He is believed to have graduated from Quinnipiac University in 2010. On a Twitter page believed to be the Lanza's, a series of disturbing posts were found, including one that said, "I would actually love if the world ended in 2 weeks."

Connecticut State Police Lt. Paul Vance said during an afternoon news conference that police arrived at the scene "within minutes" of a 911 call placed shortly after 9:30 a.m. "Every door, every crack, every crevice of that school" was checked, Vance said. “The entire school was searched.” Vance did not give details about the number of victims other than to say they included students and staff, pending notification of the families. He said more information would be released, possibly later Friday. A dispatcher at the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps said earlier a teacher was shot in the foot and taken to Danbury Hospital. Local news outlets also reported that the principal was among those shot.

Parent Lisa Procaccini told Fox News that her daughter was sitting in a classroom when she and others heard gun shots. "She was in a small class -- a reading group and they started hearing bangs," Procaccini said. "Her teacher, and I’m grateful for this, rushed kids into the bathroom and locked the door. They told kids it was hammering and tried to keep them calm.” "Children were crying," Procaccini said. "She did tell me about a little boy that was in a police officer’s arms, bleeding. I don’t know if she gets it."
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said two firearms were found at the scene.

President Obama was notified of the shooting around 10:30 am ET, White House officials said.

The elementary school has close to 700 students. Newtown is in Fairfield County, about 45 miles southwest of Hartford and 60 miles northeast of New York City.

Lance,
You confused me with your response inside my quote. Don't misinterpret what I am saying. This doesn't have anything to do with ANYONE BUT THAT SICKO that commited the crime and I sincerely apologize if it came across any other way.
Earlier today when a friend informed me of this tragedy I jumped on Yahoo News to get the details as I didn't want my preschool aged daughter to see it on my TV. It was in the 3000+ comments following the story (Minutes after it broke) that I perused through that a large percentage were calling for the abolition of the second ammendment -as if that is why this happened.
Unfortunately Lance, some A-holes exploit tragedies like this to push their agendas. I'm sorry but that got me even more upset and I guess brought me off topic. The focus now should be on the families of those affected and not on politics. That was not my intention and sorry if it was interpreted that way. May God bless all of those poor children and their families.

I don't carry often, even though I have a lifetime conceal/carry permit. I am re-thinking that. I think I need to carry the handgun everyday.
I Do carry often....and everywhere it legal to do so, including my boat

Sorry Marshall,

I agree, it was only in response to comments that I read on Yahoo News. I will edit my first post as I totally agree with you and Lance.

I have a used to be friend that has an arsenal of weapons, including automatic AR 15's, scarey thing is the guy is one of those guys that I wouldn't be surprised to go postal sometime. And I'll only have my S&W .357 Mag. or shotgun to defend myself...... Crazy people w/weapons scare the crap outta me. This is a terrible tragedy.

I just can't get my arms around this. I have been watching the local news for updates - and the info is changing every few minutes - God help those families - I just can't imagine!

My letter to our local newspaper's editorial column.....
"Nobody knows what drives a person to commit the horrific acts that we've witnessed in the past. There may be a rush to blame it on the firearms, but they didn't commit the crimes. There may be an attempt to blame the shooter's parents. though they're not the ones who pulled the trigger.

Let's call this what it really is...a cowardly act by a cowardly person. Only a coward who was searching for his 15 minutes of fame would walk into a mall crowded with Christmas shoppers and open fire. Only a coward would kill his parents then go into an elementary school and kill unarmed adults and defenseless children and kill many there.

Cowards. That's exactly what the shooters were. If they weren't cowards they might have gone after people who had a chance to defend themselves. Or fight back.

I wish the media would portray them in that light. Take away their fleeting place in the public eye.
"

Feel free if you want to copy and paste it into a letter to your local paper's editor.

Our prayers go out to all who are affected by this shooting as well as those at the mall in Oregon. Sick bastards.

Well said firstclass, the weapons whether its a gun, knife, or car are not the problem here its society!! Mommy didnt love me enough!!! I've seen it first hand for over twenty years if someone wants to committ this type of crime they will find a way or come up with they're own spin on it. You'd be surprised at some if the ways they think of. Guns are just an easy way for cowards to distance themselves from the victims if everyone had a gun then these cowards would think twice because they might actually have to face the danger of a non self inflicted gunshot. Any state that has a liberal gun carrying policy usually has a very low crime rate cowards pick on the defenseless!!!!!!

I have no words to adequately describe what took place today. I grew up not 45 minutes from Newtown, and travel through there quite regularly. It is not the kind of place where someone would expect something like this to happen. My wife, being a schoolteacher herself, is quite shaken this evening. Our best wishes go out to all those affected by this tragedy.

Dale

May the lord touch all effected by the evils of man. Sad to know a child's life is cut tragically short for no reason other then publicity. Merry Christmas my friends and be proud of family and friends this holiday season and remember what the true meaning of Christmas stands for.

Many are in my thoughts and prayers tonight!

God bless...
