Saturday we had the remnants of the massive storm that swept through the US. We got very high winds (80-100kph) and some snow.

My wife and I had plans to go out shopping in a neighbouring town, so I went out in the morning as the wind was kicking up and checked on stuff outside. The winter cover was blowing like mad but everything was pretty solid.

The trailer is a steel dual axle, both axles were up on 6x6 blocks as I had the wheels off for winter replacement, at the time, there was wheels/tires on the front axle with the wheel bolts stuck in a few threads just to keep them there.
Here is what it looked like at 10:00am

We did our thing, went for dinner, blah blah.
We got home around 10:00pm and when I parked I noticed something odd. The bow wasn't pointing where it usually is, in fact, it was almost in the garage.

I did a quick check around, the front of the trailer fell off its blocks and landed on the tongue jack, the whole unit moved/swung 5 feet towards the house. The drivers side of the trailer fell off its blocks and landed, and dragged on the one loosely fitted tire, it was canted at a nasty angle. The other side was on the block by about 1.5".

This is what I saw in the morning:

That A-Frame under the hitch is what the trailer was sitting on further aft. I stuck it there in the night "just in case"

Had a friend come over and we fitted the tires and wiggled it back into place. I figure if the one tire was not on the trailer it would have gone right over.

Wow it sure looked like you lucked out. Winds strong enough to move your boat but it doesn't sound like there's any real damage. Nice job of dodging a bullet.

Holy crap... glad its upright... use it as a leason learned...

haha, my wife said that "lesson learned". What lesson? Toss out anchors when its windy? There isn't much more I could have done to prevent it, unless it was pointing in the wind. I figured if it was on the wheels it would be IN the garage. Maybe it was cold?

You dodged the bullet on that one. Quick go buy a lottery ticket. :smt001

The lesson is you're just going to have to build a bigger garage to be 100% sure your baby is going to be safe and sound. Sounds like a good argument to me anyways...

I like that. I'll let you know how i make out! haha. Could also use it towards my argument to leave it in drystack for the winter!

That's why I chock all 4 tires on my trailer!.....If your tires were on, she would have been rolling but I'm sure you chock your tires....Mike.
