Sarcas, criticism, judgement, staying on topic

How about this. 2 weeks from now a member does a search, and lands on the discussion you describe. The member comes to the 3 pages of empty dialog, decides it's a waste of their time and moves on, maybe with enough information, maybe not. Now, lets say on page 5 an on-topic reply did make it's way in, in between all the other off topic stuff. This will be missed by the member, right? Unless the member carefully takes the time to sift through all of the non topic posts.

Go to the general discussion right now, or sport boats. In every one of the threads where information was requested, the answers were made in the fist bunch of responses. There is no empty dialog that I can see in threads where information is requested at the begining of the threads. They do go off on tangents after, which I think is fine. Not saying thats the right thing, just I dont mind it.

I look at it this way: 2 weeks from now a new member looks for an answer to a question. Gets his answers in the first page or two, then sees 2 more pages of bantering between what seems like friendly people. They stay.

Maybe only Jim or Wes can answer this, but do you find more people registering and PARTICIPATING more now than in the past?

In addition, if memberA pissed off memberB, why do I want to know about it, or in some case see all the stabs that lead one to believe there is an issue between the 2? Do you think it's respectful to stab at someone in public? Reminds me of the bullys in elementrary school..they always needed an audience.

I do not, call them on it offline, privately. Just my opinion though.

You edited your post damn you!!! lol..didnt see this other paragraph.

Well, this is going to be a hit or miss. And Ill probably not have a good supporting reason for whatever I write here and even contradict myself.

I do NOT think it is ok to stab people in a public forum. I wont do it, with the exception of one individual here that got in my face first. ALl bets are off if I am antagonized. Ill be reactive, but rarely if ever active.

However, I also do enjoy the stabbings!!! I am in a bulletin board yin/yang conundrum with knowing it is wrong to chastise someone openly vs the pure delight of watching two people train wreck. I dont like it, but at the same time enjoy it.

Told you I cant support my reasons! Ive failed as an attorney.

Maybe he isn't so intelligent as most of us think...
Not with this kind of responses on a boating forum.

He is too sarcastic, and damages his reputation.
Don't understand me wrong, I also like humorists responses like for example Gary gives.
But not these kind of personal, and strange extreme kind of frustrated text's.
That is out of line, and hurts people.

Just my personal opinion.
And it's not my opinion to damage only Frank, but I think that this is what Greg means with this post.

Maybe we should have like a rating system on this board. Something like squares, or triangles, or octagons, or balls! Yes balls! Green and red balls!

Shutup Greg.

 See, Ill never take anything Gary says personally because its obvious he is a wise arse. A bb needs some clever and witty wise arses, or it dies/becomes boring and static.

My opinion, anyway.

The problem with some people is that if you disagree with the stuff they post, they take is personal... It's like "everyone should be able to state their opinion without being called on it because we should all feel good about it."

For example with two hypothetical people:

Poster 1: "The sky is purple. My mechanic said so"
Poster 2: "Your mechanic is an idiot. The sky is blue."
Poster 1: "Wha wha wha! I'm telling on you and sending Jim an email because my opinion is just as important as yours Mr. Know-it-all-bully-man."
Poster 2: "whiner"

Just an example... Not pointing fingers at anyone of course.

:smt043 I heard it works awesome!

Good example, and I agree with you.

Thus why I stay out of a lot of tech threads, because Id be talking out of my arse, and mine would be an opinion that may be wrong.

I have read a few threads as you state Gary, and it did amaze me. I did not post, because I wasnt knowledgeable enough to actually know what was right and wrong.

In these cases, I would kind of hope that someone would call out another if the information is wrong. Questions about engines and mechanics are not subjective, IMO unless it is troubleshooting.

Gary was absent last weekend, everyone was wondering where he was..... I know. Working at the new office.....

Yea, Yea I know..... Off topic right!

Not to stray from the topic too far, but Tiaras are better than Sea Rays.

Isnt Gary just busting your chops or is there some strife between you two?

Strife? between two people on the internet??? You're kidding me, right? Turn your computer off and it goes away.

Two recommendations for Greg;
1. Stop repeating yourself. You're boring us to tears.
2. If you have a beef with Gary tell him to go F**K himself and move on.

Smear campaigns, bullying, stabbings.....Mrs.R I think you just stabbed someone(respectfully of course) without making it look like a stabbing?

Nope, not at all. I cannot speak for any member, Gary in this case, so I directed billandamy to Gary if he needs clarification. I have an idea and an opinion, but at best it's an idea and an opinion until I too hear from the source.

As I have said from the start of this thread, it's not directed at any one member. It was my way of suggesting what I thought were some good ideas.

I think what Greg is trying to say is "It's not paranoia when they are really out to get you."

I don't have a problem with Greg... he's just fun to poke at because he gets all wound up and squeals like a pig. I tried to pick on Skip but he took a can of spray paint to my boat.

When I was younger, and me and my brother would have fights in the mall, my mom would make us hold hands.

Greg, Gary...
