Hello all
yes I sank a 270 Sundeck 2 1/2 weeks ago in Lake Michigan on its maiden voyage!!! Left Burns Ditch for Bridges in Michigan city for a burger and a beer and half way back she misfired. Opened the hatch to find it approx a foot from the top!! Turned toward shore to beach it then within minutes it was going under... Maydayed and some people from Demotte IN saved my family from getting wet...
I wasn't getting off then the coast guard made me go...the whole thing took about 30 minutes and all that was sticking out of the water was the bow....
fast foreward to this Thursday... Picking up a brand new 270SLX
NO MORE USED BOATS!!!!
looking foreward to any suggestions and help in the future...
i will post pics of the old and new very soon!!

Yes...
it was the first run after buying it in Muskegon Michigan... Did a wet test up there and brought it home till that weekend. Insurance company prelim is an exhaust manifold breached and filled it up... Then the salvage company split the hull lifting out of the water with too much water in it... Of course all involved said the usual..."not my fault"!!

Yikes. I heard about it happening..wasn't sure what kind of boat. I keep my boat down the ditch.

It was sickening... It was a 2006 and not a scratch on it anywhere... I did take a 260 sundeck out for a test run and had to go back where it happened which was really weird but got passed it and went back to the marina and bought a new 270SLX.

Did you buy it from B&E? I was talking to Paul last week and he told me about a sun deck that sank in Portage, I guess that was you. Welcome to Club Sea Ray! (I am a long time B&E customer, and the B&E equivalent of Norm from Cheers, everybody there knows my name.)

They do. And if you know Scott, they take care of you.

Could've sunk due to a rotted out water motor.... I hear they had problems with those in the Sundecks.......

Seriously though, glad you're all okay!

My money's on a cracked exhaust manifold due to improper winterization, or not full of antifreeze in it.

No I didn't buy it there but I will tell you after dealing with Barry,Keith,Terry, Bryce and everyone else I will never buy another boat from anyone but B&E!!! These people are in it to win it!!!
the service they offer is second to none!!!

i bought it at Halls Sport center in Michigan...

Likely you're right and I am the type of person to find out what happened!!!

Thanks!!
looking forward to a test drive and delivery tomorrow !!! I know it's a lot of payments but I figured WTH!!

Four Winns dealer, not known for good things on used boats, other than FW. Way overpriced on their boats too.

True but 2 things... Got a decent price on the boat by ccomparison most iimportant they are "supposedly" a certified Mercruiser dealer... And afterall the Mercruiser portion of the boat failed not the Sea Ray part...
