The Admiral and I are going to San Juan next, I haven't been to the Island in 40 years. Anyone have any suggestions of Must Do's beside the usual. We'll be renting a car and never do 'All Inclusive's" so we'll be eating out every night.
Thanks' in Advance

We were only there for a couple of days but loved touring the forts and the downtown shops. If I go back there, I want to go tarpon fishing.

My wife and I spent the weekend (Fri-Monday) there last May.

Here are my suggestions -

Stay at the Hampton Inn in Carolina. It's across the street from the beach and a bunch of the fancy hotels and casinos but it only costs around $120 a night and they have a free happy hour and breakfast.

Parking can be booger in old San Juan but after you find a space you can walk everywhere so make sure to hit the forts.

Lunch in old San Juan - Look for any place with a long line out the door where no one is speaking English.

Take a trip to the rain forest. Go to the north entrance. Bring a bathing suit and swim in the waterfalls. After you leave, head to Loquillo Beach and eat at the kiosks.
