Planning a family vacation to SD in June - looking for a nice hotel/resort that is on or very close to the water. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
We are boaters that love boating and looking at boats.
Thanks,

the newer Hilton right on the water. We stayed on the top floor (30th) and had great views of the bay out of one window and the baseball park out of another. I have great mental pictures about other things against those windows ; ).

Thanks! I'm looking at the Hyatt Mission Bay Spa & Marina - any thoughts?

Nice spot and cool marina. I just happen to be a Hilton guy.

Great. Just looking at the aerial view makes me think I might come home with 10' itis. My baby 20 footer could serve well as a dingy in the bay.

What are you doing up so early on Saturday??

Sleep is overrated. Plenty of time for that when I am dead and gone! I like to get up early, take care of emails, mess around on CSR and get ready to be on the water. Dropping in the dink in today and taking care of some maintenance on our club's platform after I get the Admiral up and out the door.

How about considering a different idea? GW and I are headed to SD on 6/4 and we're renting a condo that's right on the water. I found it on homeaway.com and it's perfect for what we were looking for. It's right on the walkway that runs along the beach and the condo looks toward a canal the boats pass through to get from the harbor to the ocean.

Best of all, it's less $$$ than a hotel and allows us more freedom.

Interesting. I'm going to check it out.
Thanks

Sounds to me like you have got a condo in South Mission Beach, nice choice! If your free an afternoon It might be fun to hook up.let me know. Steve

This June gloom is depressing. I need to do more research next time. Still better than work though. What a difference 30 miles makes. Went to the safari zoo and the weather was perfect so were the zip lines!

We're still in SD, staying at a condo at the absolute end of Mission Beach. We like it here but we'll be moving today. The nice folks upstairs had some kind of a bash last night and water leaked down through the ceiling in our kitchen. So they're moving us from here to a place on Sail Bay. I haven't googled the address yet but the property manager said it's a "luxury condo with panoramic views". We'll see.

They need to get in here to pull the ceiling down and inspect it and probably replace the sheetrock before mold starts to grow. Sucks to be a property manager I guess.

Were at the Hyatt in Mission Bay over looking the Marina. Liking the looks of the 39'motor yacht right below us.

We had our boat at that marina below the hyatt and marriott but moved it 6 months ago. It is a great spot, but it can get very noisy when they have concerts in the adjacent park. It's also quite a long run to open ocean. we will be back one day. My wife really misses the downtown area.

My bad, you said mission bay. I was referring to the downtown area. Mb is also nice and a great place to paddle if you are in to that.

Billfletcher, I see you are at Kona Kai Marina. My brother-n-law keeps his Sea Ray there. The name of his boat is Salt Water Caddy. He has a 390EC.
