I purchased new canvas's from Greatlakes and am planning to do the install myself. Does anyone have any advice, do's and don't ....things that I should do to get it right the first time? Or should I just have someone else do it.

Has anyone used the Sailrite quick fit kit to do there install

I thought it was over price but it looks like it may help with the install.
Thanks guys as alway!

Just lent my quick fit kit to a dockmate who bought new canvas from great lakes for his 300 sundancer haven't asked him how they worked out for him yet. I used it to make a cockpit cover several years ago and they were a big help for that project. The kit is pricey for what it is and the pins will bend if your not careful. The caps trend to fall off also. I purchased mine 6 or 7 years ago maybe the quality has improved?

I just used this kit to install new great lakes canvas. It works well and I dont see how it would be possible to locate the snaps without it. Hydro is right, you will loose alot of the black caps so order a few extra.

Are there male snas currently on the boat and you're just replacing the canvas? If so it's very easy. Get something with a sharp point. Center up the canvas (hepls to have two people) and push the canvas down to locate the snap. Once you have that, push the sharp object though the canvas. Pull it out and mark it with chaulk. Then install the female snap. I start at the middle and work my way outwards. Last year I did new isinglass and a cockpit cover with no problems. A few cold beers help too!

Thanks for the advice all including the Cold Beer but I may have a Vodka when I'm done. I have to admit I'm a little nervous about making holes in my new Canvas that I just spent a couple of grand on.

It's a lot easier than drilling holes in the fiberglass!
