I was just wondering if anyone else is planning on watching the Parade of Sail this June in Boston Harbor? This is the end of the Bermuda - Boston race leg, and will be the biggest tall ship event since the Bicentennial.

The admiral thought it would be nice to see it from our boat, and so we'll be heading up from Buzzards Bay, thru the Cape Cod Canal to Boston on Friday, June 16th and staying until Monday the 19th at the Constitution Marina in Charlestown. https://constitutionmarina.com/

We will be finding a spot to anchor along the route Saturday the 17th to watch the tall ships. I may have one or two other boats in our "flotilla", and we would welcome rafting with any of our CSR friends that can make it to Beantown. Be advised, it's Father's Day weekend, so that might play into your plans. My son lives in Boston so it works well for me.

I'm checking with USCG Station Boston to see where the special anchorages will be designated for the parade. I can update this thread when I learn more if people seem to be interested.

This sounds fun. I last went in 1990 ish!

Were docked in New Bedford, but my parents summer house (and where I spent my summers growing up) is in Mattapoisett.

Were in (for the most part**)!

We booked at Charlestown Marina, Constitution didn't have room for us.

**Wife potentially has a meeting that weekend, if that comes to fruition we will cancel our reservation since she wouldn't be home until late Saturday.

That's great, it'll be fun. I've been seeing more TV advertisement for Sail Boston 2017 recently on the Boston stations, so I'm sure the marina's will all be full soon for that weekend. We're looking forward to it, seeing all those tall ships parade thru Boston Harbor should be fantastic. They'll all be open for visitors too thru the weekend and following week. You might have a couple staying over at Charlestown Marina, I think they spread them out all over the city last time.

We're arriving on Friday, June 16, leaving Monday the 19th, staying at Constitution Marina in Charlestown. We should be able to actually see everything from the marina, but right now we plan on heading to one of the spectator anchorages in the harbor early Saturday morning and spending the day out there watching the parade, then heading back to the marina for the rest of the weekend.

Cheers, Ron

Did you guys make it up? We had a great time, the Charlestown Marina was very nice, we watched right from the main dock.

Not so fun on the run home Sunday once we got near the canal, especially the turn into New Bedford Harbor where vis dropped to less than 1/8 mile and I was tracking the high speed ferry on it return from WH.

Sorry we missed you, I posted some photos from the trip. We also watched from the dock at Constitution Marina during the parade. It was crazy on the harbor, so many patrol boats out there chasing idiots around. We came home on Monday, well, we made it to Plymouth on Monday. The fog was too thick at that point. I have radar and gps, but apparently others don't worry about that and just fly along out there, so we spent another night hanging around Plymouth. Not really a bad thing, made the run through the canal the next day. It was nice in Boston, but the whole time we were up there, people said Buzzards Bay was fogged in daily.

Really glad we did the trip, it was a blast.
