Sae Ray Vs Waves

I actually just noticed that the original poster is probably the person who made the video. That would mean the boat definitely doesn't have Mercruiser Axius then because his engine info is listed as Volvo Diesels.

Those were waves?

I agree with what you're saying Scott, but...

I'm pretty sure that boat doesn't have Axius, you can make a stern drive 320 move just like that. Turn the wheel and start using the shifters. You can make the boat do pretty close to what axius does with any twin engine stern drive. I also don't even think it has a bow thruster either.

Was Axius ever even an option on a 320?

I dont believe it has Axius it has a steering wheel i thought Axius uses joy sticks?

Is Searay all that popular in the Middle East? Well I guess I can add one more person to the list who can dock better than me..........:) lol

Wow, you guys are critical :wow:

It is impressive boat handling whether he's using axius, a bow thruster, or traditional drives. He is confidently spinning his boat within inches of the dock and a few feet of rocks at a consistent rate of turn. I know many of you think once a bow thruster is on a boat anything is possibly, but its really just one more tool in your box to make for elegant docking. You can use it right or wrong. When used right its awesome, when used wrong you look like an idiot. It also adds one more thing to manage when docking.

Axius, and Zues, and IPS all have their own learning curve. And to use one of them in such tight quarters so confidently requires a skilled operator. So no matter what this guy was using he deserves some respect, not insults.

Nope not insulting anyone, I thought his docking was very impressive. I still cannot see the fenders on the port side only the ones on the starboard side.

However the owner and operator has clarified that there were fenders on the port side too.

The fenders were on the dock. With space as tight as that berth I would put them on the outside too- don't know how good the next guy is.

Thanks Jim Maier

Good points Jim, and of course, you are correct. It does take a lot of finesse to work axius or IPS in a fashion to turn the boat in tight quarters, and even more skill to do it so well without.

To MoB`7aR, Welcome to CSR, you did a great job docking your boat! I'll try to overlook the fender flopping at cruise thing from now on, I promise.

Welcome aboard!

thanks ,
we know the ips & axius its the latest technology but we cant use ips in my country because we don't have deep water , all shallow water , so with axius or ips system you well lose your boat , the best here in Kuwait the stern drive , some places in the sea you must trim full up your gear

Regards

A few questions for you..

How are you getting that PWC on and off of your swim platform? How much does that PWC weigh and has it caused any damage?

Bye the way, your antennas are crooked

Ok, so seriously great docking. I'm way interested in the docking video. So do tell, how'd you do the sideways maneuver after your had turned 180 degrees? In looking at it and thinking about the physics, I'm thinking maybe you turned the wheel hard to starboard? And then used differential thrust to slide it over?

I've only had my twin engine boat out just a few times before winter hit here, so I'm very curious to learn and become comfortable with these types of maneuvers this year.

Do I have the right idea?!
