Just got a call from my boat mechanic. He was on the way out to my house to winterize the boat. I have him do it on my lift. Could I do it myself, yes, but doing it over water just adds one more wrinkle and I'm sure I'd drop a tool or two into the drink. Good timing since it is going to get into the 20's here in the next few days. He always leaves me as late as safely possible so that I can enjoy the Fall on the water. We had some beautiful days on the water after all the crazies had long since pulled their boats.

Yes it's always a sad day but quit your whining we had to stop boating in Michigan in October , hell I think some stopped in August in mackinaw city .

Yesterday - temp at dock -8C (17 F), cockpit -6C (21F), engine room/bilge 0C (32F),

turned on hot water tank in hopes of raising bilge temp slightly while we wait for our ABYC approved bilge heater and for this arctic vortec to bugger off.

Today - temp at dock -6C (21F), cockpit -4C (24F), engine room/bilge +4C (39F)

I think there's still some heat radiating into the engine area from the lake. Looks like we're going to be lucky. Heater should arrive tomorrow. I researched prices and availability in both our countries. WM = +/- $400 US or $579 CDN and will ship when available. Local Mercruiser dealer,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, $210.00 and will be here tomorrow. Different manufacturer though; made in Canada, 1500 watt, three output levels plus antifreeze mode, manual controls. The same product with the digital board was about 40 bucks more. Too good to be true but we'll see. Oh yea,,, and a five year warranty.:smt038 And I was totally prepared to be paying way more. Go figure eh? No sad day here this winter, maybe. Can't imagine being somewhere where the water actually freezes though. Brrrrrrrrrrr.
