Sometimes we forget those folks that are here to serve us. I'm lucky enough to have some of the best medics and firefighters in the county working near my home. Some have worked on me, some Ive worked with on the floor. They are a professional group.

Today was a tough sad day for all those, some will need the support that they have never needed in the past. As will the teachers and staff, including my wife.

A mother came to the school and picked up her child then took a gifted, special young mans life. Then took her own. It angers me to know she went to the school to pick up her child for the soul purpose to kill him.

I've been in and around Fire and Rescue since 75. I've never seen something like this.

Sad for sure. Career Paramedic/FF for 25 years and I'm ready to move on.

It's always sad when something like that happens and none of us can comprehend what was going through her mind at the time. I hate it when I read about something like that in the news but there's a side to the story we will never be able to understand.

Seems like this type of thing is occurring more and more. A Paramedic in MD for 37 years and have been through incidents as such many times. These are the ones you never forget. My thoughts and prayers go out to the crews, their comrades and those left behind to deal with it. Be strong and push on, we need each and every one of you - for we are the front line.

Prayers to the survivors and thanks to the real hero's who are there to help us when we're in need.

Officer at my night range and I talked today. He has been a damn good friend since 87, been there for the residents and the schools.. He considers the school to be very lucky at this time. If she had snapped before the trip to the school, this would have been a much different situation.

I have shown my wife your posts. She would love to thank you all. Today was hard on her and your posts and a river run helped greatly

That is absolutely horrific. It breaks my heart to hear of this. When my sister killed herself back in December, it dropped a bomb on our family. I can't imagine what the people involved are going through, given the magnitude of the loss of an innocent child as well...prayers to all involved.
