Home port is in Rochester, looking at a summer trip or two. I've never been up the east side of the lake, so we're looking at either Sackets or Henderson for a couple nights. We'd likely be travelling alone so I'd ride the shore a bit. Maybe stay in fairhaven or oswego for a night then complete the trip up the next day.

Sackets looks like a cool little town, a few restaurants and bars, etc. I like the looks of navy point marina. Anyone been? Not looking for anything crazy, but a place to have dinner and a drink at night would be nice.

Hey Ryan, We keep our boat in Henderson/Sackets and love the area. I happen to live in Bristol and my office is in Victor, more your neck of the woods. It is a 2.5 hour drive each way all summer but love boating that area. Sackets is one of our favorite towns with many nice places to eat. Nice micro brewery with great food. Goodfellas has woodfired cooking that is certain to bring you back and anyone that has been there will agree you cant leave without a breakfast at TinPan. All are easy walks from public docking right in the harbor. Navy pint is a has good water, great docks and a restaurant you can grab food and drink. A new restaurant opened in Henderson last year that did a very nice job with good dock and better views. On the east side of Henderson there is a large sand bar that many boats spend hot summer days on. You would be about an hour cruise from Cape Vincent at the mouth of the St Lawrence river and I could not encourage you enough to add two nights and hit the river.... that would require me to continue to babble on but if you were to make the trip this far. We try to hit the river a handful of times a season and have been catching the Ridue annually. If you head this way please feel free to touch base.

Thanks so much for all the info. It sounds exactly like what we're looking for. I hear you on the river, it will depend on what kind of time away I can swing but if possible I'd love to do a 6-7 days. I'm thinking Fairhaven for a night -> sackets for minimum 2 nights -> river for minimum 2 nights. That leaves a few days for a weather window if necessary, I'm just undecided if we'd do the trip home in one shot or pick somewhere half way to rest up and finish the next day. Thanks again, I'll let you know if we decide to head up that way

Mai. Ducks is a nice overnight on the way home as well. Will leave the last leg a little long but certainly cut the trip back for you.

Did you mean main duck island? I didn't even know the place existed but looks like a cool spot to spend a night. Active captain says there are municipal docks to stay at, any idea of the condition or do people just stay on the hook?
