I dont have the nautley system , however i have fabricted my own out of starbooard and stainlessteel brackets that where powder coated white back in may , and have rusted off since I cant find a solution to my rusting problem either!!!!

Pietro considering the Cost of the Nautley System , why not email the company with these pictures and see if they'll Replace them!

Bugsy, I did write to Nautley but I just wanted to know if anybody has the same problem.

Anyway, I got a kind replay from Nautley today. They will send me some new updated bolts in a higher 316 grade!

Great product and support! :smt038

For that kind of Money that's the least they should Do!!! I fabricated my own also out of StarBoard but have yet to mount them as the Marina where I'm at... we Back in!!!

Hopefully the new bolts will stop future rust, to clean the rust stains though I would recommend 'MaryKate On & Off'. I use steel ratchet straps to tie my dinghy down to the platform and it leaves rust stains. The On & Off is amazing at cleaning it up.

What you are seeing is weeping rust from water causing theiron and steel to rust. Dissimilar metals rust faster than single metals because of electrochemical reactions, so steel rusts faster than iron, and joints between dissimilar metals rust very quickly. My guess is that you have fastners which is a dissimiliar metal from the coated steel....Once you break the coating sytem or protection as we call it, it is like a disease....Salt water will cause rust faster than potable water because salt water is a better electrical conductor. If you take your davit apart, you will clearly see where the rust is coming from.......

I will take everything apart as I receive the new bolts. Nautley seems to know the problem pretty well and made two upgrades since I bought their davit. They also suggested me to polish the inside of the metal strips. We will see...

Update:

Nautley is sending me not just new bolts but complete new support arms also!!! Great service :smt038
