Has anyone found an effective solution to removing rust stains - the boat is an 05 - 280. I've tried normal carpet cleaners and also bought a bottle of 'Wink Rust remover' but neither has had any impact on the stain.

Thanks for the wood recommendation - I've had wood cabin soles in other boats and really like the look. Unfortunately on the 280, the carpet is running up the sides and the aft compartment has a soft curve (vertical and horizontal)transition so wood would look somewhat out of place.I had rust and other stains, We ended up installing fake teak flooring in our 320. Pretty inexpensive if you can DIY. Unfortunately, I could not install, so had to fork over the 3500$. It was complicated by the fact the boat had half carpet, and then a wood floor in the galley which had to be removed. If you have all carpet, would be easier to replace.
Check the condensate pan beneath the a/c compressor. The drain clogs easily with fuzz from air born carpet fibers and other stuff. Requires regular cleaning. I suppose there are limited options but SR puts cooling units in undesirable locations on some of its product one. Under a forward berth means noisy sleeping and spilled, rusty water when running the boat in heavy seas. Best location for compressors is as far aft and away from carpeting as possible.I would be looking for the source of the rust stain first.
I would try a different cleaner:
This one removed the rusty water stains on my hull in a matter of seconds. It just melted away in front of my eyes.
