Running my engine

Hi folks,

I'm trying to perform a test on my PerfectPass system, the only thing is that I need to run the boat up to 3000 RPM to do so.

Is it ok to run my engine (without engaging the prop) up to 3000RPM while its out of the water??? I have the hose adapter that goes through the inlet holes, so I can run water through the motor.

I just dont want to run my engine up that far out of water if it's not recommended.

Thanks!

The manual for my engine says 1800 RPM. This is so hose can provide enough water to feed the impeller at that speed.

depending on the type of hose you have.... you may collapse the hose and then little to no cooling water is being delivered. I personally would not do this.

Why not just drop your boat into the water and test?

Ok, yeah. I think I'll just go with dropping it in the water. Only way I wouldve done it is if everyone had said "No worries!"

Not doing it.

Thanks

How long do you need to run the engine at 3000 rpms? The feed hose isn't going to collapse because the pump doesn't create the vacuum necessary to do so. If it's for a short time, I stand by answer that it's not going to do any harm. In fact, if you had to run your engine at 3000 rpm's for a short time, you could do it without water if it weren't for the impeller in the pump.

If you ever need to check engine timing, you need to bring the RPM's up to 2800. I don't see a problem in doing it. I've never had a problem.
