View attachment 78979 View attachment 78979 have a rudder trim system that will not work. The guage is functional, it's the sending unit that's has failed. The system Saeray used originally is from Europe. Mine is a 2001 system and the part went out of production over 5 years back. Question is can I replace it with any 12 volt generic sending unit.

can't see attachment

Not all that sure that seeing the attachment will do all that much. The Sear Ray part is Sierra 1502871; well Teleflex took over Sierra but used the same part number. I got one of the new units, cheap thing with a lot of Hongule writing on the side, looks nothing like the robust OEM unit ( meaning what I got was a hunk of Chinnees junk ) and it didn't work. What are the odds that this simple Chinese 12 volt potinciomiter might be FUBARed right out of the box. All that aside, I'm fishing for some one that might have replaced a SeaRay OEM rudder angle sending unit; where did the sending unit come from; what happened. I would like keeping the SeaRay indicator and just swap out sending units; that's the ultimate goal. Baring that I have new dash board indicators to close the loop.
So back to the original question, can I just swap out a 12 volt single pole staion rudder displacement sending unit and expect my OEM SeaRay indicator to work?
