I'm thinking without some sort of check valve system the water is going to take the path of least reistance and alot of it of the water won't make it to the engine. I think both pickups would need to be pumped. I think Volvo drives use an engine mounted that picks up through the outdrive You could bypass something like that and pick up through a through hull. They Make a kit that I can change my cobra drive over to a volvo drive, It seems to bolt right on to the existing intermedate housing but you have to add a seawater pump that bolts up to the engine, for cooling.Good point steve. I was mtn biking at MDR when I talked to the guy with the added through hull. Thats what im suppose to be doing now. But I turned the computer on :smt013 I only took a peek at his thru hull. He used a Tee fitting to the main water inlet. I could only guess if he went to a engine impeller setup:huh: There is a scooper/strainer thru hull designed for engine water intake. A search may reveal if it scoops enough water at slow speed to cool the engine with a clogged or burnt out impeller. I hadnt heard of anyone using a check valve. of my google searches have been useless lately.
