What do you do to get ready for a road trip?

Trailer

1. Check bearings, add grease to bearing buddys.

2. Check lights and wiring.

3. Check brakes to be sure they apply and release, no fluid leaks.

4. Check lug nuts/bolts, make sure they are tight and that you can get them off and on in case of a flat.

5. Check tires and inflate to proper pressure.

Vehicle

1. PM service, unless recently done.

2. Check all lights.

3. Check brakes.

4. Check tires and pressures, inflate if needed.

What else is needed?

Perfect list Midway. If I am going a long trip I throw the floor jack in the bed and a couple of 4X4s in case I have to change the trailer tires. I have been lucky and have not had to do that in a while.

Where are you going?

Pack my bags hop in the car and leave! :wow:

Some of us don't have boats that we trailer Nolan.

Paul, Done been, PCB in June, I did have the jack and tools in the truck.

Dave, all you need is a tow vehicle capable of pulling the 260 and a trailer to put it on, Jeremy does one bigger than yours. You can do it.

and don't forget to check the tire pressure in the spare

I also keep spare hubs, bearings, grease gun and grease, extra, extra spare tire. (one in the bed of the truck too.) Floor jack with stands, tools to work with, and flares for night time. Make sure your safety chains are in good working order, and your winch strap or cable is not frayed or damaged. And last but not least tie down straps are in good shape and tight. I just witnessed a boat almost come off it's trailer when a guy towing started swaying almost out of control at 65 miles per hour and the boat was jumping up and down on the trailer. He did a great job of catching his load before it dumped it on the hwy, not to mention the dumped load in his pants.
