Is there a Raymarine unit that would be close to a "plug n play" unit for both footprint and accessory compatibility to upgrade an RL80C unit? A dock mate would like to do a upgrade.

Most likely not. That unit has a vertical profile, taller than wide. All the current day units are horizontal profile, wider than tall. You will probably need to create/buy a mounting plate for the new unit.

No there isn't. The sizes are considerably different now, and the newest raymarine Axiom MFD's do not have an easy way to hook to the older Sea talk 1 accessories. Sorry.
