There is a 30 lb anchor on the Minn Kota winch now. It is the boat's parking brake when I don't feel like cruising pointlessly. Today I concentrated on a book w/o worrying about drifting into the shore. This mushroom anchor has wedges cut out of it for river holding but it does bring up mud from the lake bottom. There are operating stations under the dash and on the winch. I may be stating the obvious but I can hang over the prow and stop the anchor before it gets completely out of the water. If I then idle about for a few minutes, the anchor is rinsed off and can be fully stowed.

Seems like a very logical post, was there a question, or statement about the anchor I’m missing?

If you are motoring around with your anchor dangling in the water, I would suggest you get the phone number of a good fiberglass repair outfit in your contact list because you will be needing them.

Using up the boat at the rate it depreciates while keeping it floating and entertaining is a challenge.

FYI - that anchor line on the Deckhand 40 is notorious for breaking. I’d replace it with something stronger like a nylon ATV winch line. That was the 1st thing I did when I added mine to the pontoon. All of my neighbors have lost their anchors using the supplied line.
