First post here...I just purchased a 2001 Sundancer 280 and the boat mover removed the radar to lower the height and he tried to tie it to the arch for the move. Well it slipped out and was hanging by the cable, and the cable slightly pulled out of the radar. I now need to repair/rewire the connector. The connector looked like the circled part of the attached image. Is there a clean way to remove the wires from the connector so that I can cut it clean and re-insert them? The boat is a hour away so I want to make sure I bring the right tools.

Thanks

Wellcome to CSR. Where in Mass are you boating? If you are on the North Shore, Voyager Marine in Essex should be able to fix it for you. Although you may have bigger problems. That plug goes into a circuit board that might have been damaged. Add to that the radar was swinging in the breeze, You might want to scope out the inside where the plug connects as well as the overall condition of the insides.

Thanks for the feedback. I actually purchased the boat on the North Shore in Marblehead, but had it moved down to Narragansett Bay out of Barrington, RI. I live in central MA near Worcester and for us that was the best location. This is my first "big" boat after having an 18' bowrider for the last 10 years.

I'm going to try and fix it myself first by cutting the damaged part of the cable off and then try to rewire the connector. If it turns out I need to purchase a new cable (hopefully the radar is not damaged) I'll talk with the mover about having him cover it.

Those cables don't play well with splicing. ..... Ask me how I know! I just spent a week up in Westport at my sisters. Had good weather and buffed and waxed her boat. Love those Northern boats!!! They come back nice. Good luck with the radar cable. EBay has them.
