Jon, you may know this but you must elect Medicare Part B (and pay for it) for Tricare for Life to kick in as secondary payer. The base Part B premium is more than Tricare, and quite hefty if you have major income. But, well worth it IMO. I haven't paid out a penny since starting Medicare.Glad to hear you are liking it, I am as well. Checked all your advice boxes, going with 10% tax rate on SSA, same as my Navy pension, Medicare is auto for me Tricare rolls to it when I turn 65 and I can still use VA in south Charlotte, fantastic facility and I’ve had the same doc since 2005. Now if my golf game would come back from the abyss life would be, well pick any of the honeys from the bikini thread and you get the picture.

I get it brother, I have 5 grown kids, son 39, 2 boys living in Maine (blah) twin girls 38 one in New Orleans the other here about 45 minutes away, twin 1A the one here has a boy, 9 he’s here tonight and a joy. Twin girls 23 one 2 miles away, sometimes I think we see her too much
. The other in New Port News VA, my point? I’ve been around the planet 5 times there are so many things to see, do and experience I tell them all, “go on an adventure”

Yep, thanks for the info. Went through this with the tricare folks. Should be all set. I’m good as I can still use the VA facility for ever, teased my doc about him retiring he said “ill be your doc when you die” more so it’s for the Queen so she doesn’t have to sign up for her company coverage, Tricare lady assured me we are all set.

Here's a video my friend put together of a ride he, myself and another friend took into Mexico. My bike is the one with the red gas can on the back rack. Was about a 1,400 mile trip. Unfortunately the friend who did the video got hurt and had to fly home while the rest of us kept trucking

I leave for another 10 day trip weekend after next and can only hope it goes as well. This is the type of thing I hope to do more of once I'm fully, or more partially retired.

Make sure you sign up for Medicare part B the month before the month you turn age 65. If you wait until the month you turn 65, you will have a month with no Tricare coverage. (I learned this the hard way)
