I would appreciate some suggestions of good restaurants in the western part of the sound. I am out of Glen Cove, looking for places in CT.

Can't help you with CT, but Louie's in Port Washington is hoppin' on the weekends.

Turtletone is right on, Louie’s is hoppin and has good food.

There is Crab Shell in Stamford, nice spot but not impressed with the food. Also in Stamford, once the harbor splits, go to the east fork and dock at the Deli/Gas dock – they will charge a small fee to dock and then walk across the parking lot to an Italian restaurant (forget the name). We had a couple good meals there

Also Prime Steakhouse in Huntington, nice but pricey

Here is a secret. The restuarant on the 5 mile river, seafood at its best. Bring some loot.Afterall its in Rowayton. Yes, 1 or 2 slips right at the Rowayton Seafood market. Call ahead. On the other end of the spectum you can come to Norwalk and dock at Overtons for a hot dog or belly clams, or try the Harbour view restuarant and dine on the water.

Happy exploration!

thanks guys, we frequent louies quite a bit, and i have heard good things about the seafood restaurant. will give it a try soon!

Come on over.."Crabshell" is a fun singles meat market. Good people watching and usually a band in the eves starting on Thursday. Walk next door to eat at the "Paradise".

The deli/gas dock is "Vinny's dockhouse deli", buy a little gas from Vinny and he may not charge anything to walk across the parking lot to "Eclisse" which is excellent family style Italian food.

Dancin Daves "secret" is the best seafood place anywhere. Docking is tight and only two spots, call ahead.

Norwalk has a large visitor dock just before the drawbridge with a free pumpout. Walk over the bridge and find many places on Water street to eat and the aquarium/Imax theater is there too.

Of course, theres Northport on the other side with many places to pick from.
I love the Ritz..

Get a cruising guide if you don't already have one.
Have fun,
Mark.
