Twin Mercruiser 5.7L V-Drive.
Has anyone upgraded to 6.2L? Any noticeable gains? How about fuel usage? I think the 5.7L is a bit under powered and since its time to repower I'm at least thinking about it.

Why is it time to re-power?
The port motor overheated blew head gasket. Salt water has gotten in to the motor. Also the motors never been flushed, intake manifolds are rusted on both motors, exhaust manifolds are rusted and leaking. I got the boat in this condition.

Gotcha.... The 6.2 would be a good motor for your boat as would the 5.7 Magnum. Most versions of the Magnum are 300HP and the 6.2 is 320. You could need a gear ratio change though and most definitely a prop change. I don't think you would see any noticeable change in fuel usage unless you run WOT all the time. The higher HP motors don't have to work quite so hard to do the same job as the 260 HP motors therefore they should use a bit less fuel. This is also a great time to really make that engine room awesome.

Do your research. Make sure you prop the boat to attain the recommended WOT on whichever motor you choose. It could be a nice upgrade and serve you for a long time. Post pics of the process

Search the "Official 330" thread. There was discussion about a repower of a 330 with 6.2's that you should read. I would think that the 6.2s would be much better than the 5.7s. Much more torque. May be able to just get your prop's repitched or maybe replaced with no gearing change.
