We'll went out on test run with new motors and outdrives yesterday. Installed new 4,3's 225 hp and alpha outdrives one counter. The test run was flawless except for a little leak on a broken clamp. The engines were quieter than the old ones with less vibration. The power was way better to. Still on break-in so no speed figures. put 18 pitch 4 blade props on changed to 16's.thought I could pull the larger prop with the extra 35 hp nope. Got the boat on cruise at 29 mph and saw 2.1 mpg for a second probably wishful thinking but they'll do as well or better than my old motors with more hp. Also enlarged the trim tabs from 12x12 to 13 x 14.5 with 3" drop leg's and welded to old tabs, huge difference. Used to run full tabs for the 1.7 mpg now I wasn't even at half tab when I momentarily saw 2.1. also put the Bennett auto tab plus on verdict's still out on them not sure didn't have a enough time to play with them. Painted the whole bilge, rebuilt the trim motors, new bilge pumps, gas lines, battery cables and dual binnacle control and cables. Didn't have enough time to play in the marina to see what the difference is with the counter rotating drive just loaded on trailer. Love it !!! Life is good again. Look out tuna.

Sounds all good to me. I'm curious, what is the boat, and the weight? I'm looking at a Searay sundancer 280 with their 4.3 230 how and am wondering how it will perform and how good it will be on fuel.
Enjoy your new setup!

I saw your post and answered what I knew with the old engines that were 190 hp . Ive only had 2 people and mid rpm on new motors. My boat is a 270 sea ray amberjack 10' beam and weighs close to 10,000 lbs full of fuel, water and gear. the overall length is close to 31' with swim platform and bow pulpit. I expect this to be a excellent package in this boat. I expect the top speed to be close to the old engines. Not really my concern I run 25-35 mph 90% of the time .
