replacing wires mercruiser are they made of gold???

These spark plug wires are a direct replacement and good quality for $111. ACDelco and Inboard & Outboard printed on each with wire separators. Exactly the same as the $550 marked up Mercruiser Part 84-881698 - Spark Plug Wire Kit. They are the same part for about 1/5th the cost.

Ran into this with plugs as well. $16 ea from Merc. $3.25 ea from the local auto parts store. Same brand, part number and even packaging. I did have to wait a few days for them to bring them in.

Just ordered a set from Michigan Motorz, and installed them. They are absolutely the exact same identical wires as the ones I took off (which were OEM). Get the Crusader or Volvo Penta ones. Still overpriced but hey, it's a boat.

Local mercruiser parts are always way overpriced, I have been buying what I can from Mercstuff because the local merc dealer is so expensive about three times more than mercstuff even with the freight. As for ignition wires if they are metalic cored they will be more but overall if you can buy automotive carbon cored wires for the engine they will be good to use as there really isn't any difference except the wire dia. and wire lengths that will be needed to make up the set for the engine. They don't emit any sparks that can cause an explosion as cars also have a closed area and have no problems as long as you can get the right size wires you should be good to go.
