My 2001 amberjack original Raymarine electronics are shot, I have nursed them along for this past year since purchasing the boat. I have added a 125 gps unit to keep the old chartplotter , along with my pathfinder radar going, but have actually become dependent on my iphone and ipad aps for almost everything. Mostly do weekend cruising and some offshore fishing, and would like to step up to the new stuff. My old eyes like new higher resolution screens and I love new toys. The radar has finally given up the ghost so time to make the change. I have no preference for brands, dash most likely will have to be reworked any way I go. The transducers for the tri60 data is the only thing that still seems to work well (thru the hull) and the inhull transducer still works, so if those are not changed what am I stuck with.

I like the new Raymarine stuff. Try looking at the C120w. I have the c90w only because the 120 would not fit. So far i'm happy with the system but my radar scanner is in for service because it quit last time out. It's covered under a three year warranty so no big deal. Dealer is taking care of removal/install and sending to service center.

I just bought A Amberjack 290. The previous owner did not use it to fish with. I have mine set up for Lake Ontario salmon fishing"Trolling". I went with the Lowrance HDS 10 gen 2 insight. Lowrance 4g broadband radar, 50/200 airmar thru hull 1000 watt transducer, lowrance fmv-400 ghp gauge. Garmin ghp 12 autopilot with octopus system. Along with Cisco rod holders/electric planer boards. Cannon digitoll down riggers.

Time to get on the water

The depth stuff (ST60 & transducers) are SeaTalk. The Raystar 125 is probably set up as SeaTalk, but can be wired to be NMEA 0183, and with the RayMarine conversion kit NMEA2000. The C90w/120w are ok, but you might as well skip to the head of the class and get one of the the new displays that will also transmit to your ipad/Iphone. I know the 125 will work, and think the transducers and ST60 are also compatible.

Thanks for the responses; I actually forgot to check this post for answers (Newbie for sure).

I did go with the e7D raymarine plotter and sounder and was able use existing Transpounder and the raystar 125 was setup with seatalk and I am still using it with the older chartplotter as a backup. The internal GPS on the e7D seem to work well even with indash mounting. I guess I will follow thru with the Raymarine HD radar at some point, just to keep the networking simpler when adding another display. But I have to say I am intrigued by the 4G broadband lorwarence. The ipad/iphone Navionics app connection has actually come in handy for managing routes and organizing markers away when from the boat easy transfer of info with auto sync.
Any comments or tips regarding HD vs 4G broadband radar.

Thanks ahead of time for any responses
