Hi:
After diagnosis of all other possibilities, on my Stbd 454 MAG MPI, Hurth V-Drive Damper plate needs to be replaced.
I understand what needs to be done as far as sliding the prop shaft back, sliding the V-drive forward (making sure to support the engine block) and removing the bell housing to get to the Damper Plate.

My question is:
Has anyone done it while in the water? If you slide the V-drive forward as far as it goes, is there enough room to remove the bellhousing?

I have seen threads about just removing the engine/transmission as one unit, but that entails a trip to the yard, a haul out and a forklift/crane.

Anyone who has done this, please chime in!!
Thx

Borrow/rent/buy a prop puller. It will make the job much easier. Take lots of pictures!! We all have contemplated this job and the more minds all the better to get it done right and safely.
