Hello,

Thanks everyone, who helped me to choose right antenna.

I am now installing new one. I think I understand most of installation process.
The only problem left - how to pull the cable from antenna to the radio. I am going to attach the rope to old cable and push it through while pulling out old antenna cable, and then use the same rope to pull through new cable.

But!

The tunnels are zig-zagging and to get it through I need access to tunnel space. On my DA340 1999 there are oval things (plastic cover with soft cushion like material on top)

Bigger oval easily come out once I pull it out. And it is indeed is the cover for tunnel access. Unfortunately it allows access to horizontal tunnel. But I need access to vertical tunnel which lead to the arc.

Smaller "oval" seems to be access to vertical tunnel. But smaller one is tight and not going out on easy pull. Is smaller one also access point? Should I just pull it out stronger? I am afraid to break the thing if I am mistaken. Should I pull stronger, is it also access point? Is there some trick to to open it?

Those “ovals” should be held on with Christmas Trees. Just a press on fastener. Gently pry and work your way around. You can also remove the speaker to gain a bit more access higher up the arch.

Also, you can cut the wire on the OLD antenna at the base of the old antenna and you that to either pull a string or the new antenna wire forward to the helm. Just take your time. Try to protect the connector on the new wire where it connects to the VHF radio. Just put some wraps of electrical tape around it.
