Replacement Part Numbers

Yesterday I went to my local parts store and asked for an oil filter for my '01 v-6 engine. He gave me one and on the box it was stated to be used with all merc cruiser v-6 engines. When I got to the boat, I discovered that the oil filter was too small. Went back to the store after obtaining the number that was on the oil filter on the engine and got the correct one.

My question is are part numbers for your engine listed anywhere for the oil filter, water separator & spark plugs ? I looked through my operation, maintenence & warranty manual and can not see anything listed.

Thanks for the replies. I went to the web site and it showed me the part numbers I was looking for. As for my owner's manual, I did get one. Will have to look at it later.
