Hi,

Tried to search the forums for an answer but couldn't find anything that matched my question so here goes.

I have an Airmar P32 transom mounted triducer (speed, depth, water temp) connected to an old Silva Sea Data instrument. Both the speed and depth reading works pretty bad but it's the speed I need most so I'm going to start troubleshooting there. I have a few instructions on how to do that but I need your expertise on what my options are if parts turn out to be defective.

I've heard the magnets in the paddle wheel goes bad after a while. The paddle wheel looks exactly like this: http://www.blueheronmarine.com/Airmar-33-113-Paddlewheel-Kit-7084 but this paddle is for a through-hull transducer. I tried to search the Internet for a P32 paddle but nothing much has turned up. In addition there seems to be another P32 model with a "square" type of paddle wheel (see http://www.imarineusa.com/AirmarP32-235-Faria.aspx), not sure if newer or older than mine. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement wheel for my P32? Will the paddlewheel for the thru-hull (first link above) fit the P32 as well?

If it turns out that it's not the paddle wheel that's faulty (or if I can't get a replacement wheel) I guess I need to change the whole triducer. Should I "upgrade" to another Airmar version like P66 or P58 rather than a new P32? They look similar in the specification (50/200 KHz) but has 600 W RMS instead of 250 W on the P32.

Any info and pointers are much appreciated!
