Broke the glass on my two burner cooktop. It's a seaward princess model 22421. Like to shift to an induction model but all I can find are portables..not drop ins. Anybody replace their cooktop?

Have you looked at Kenyon? Great stuff and second to none customer service.

I have a 268 DA, I sent my 25yr old Kenyon cook top in to have it serviced, they sent it back like brand new. Any questions I had they answered everything. Extremely awesome customer service. They will set you straight

Kenyon products are nice, but double or triple the price of a replacement cooktop of the oem Seaward Whale cooktop. However the new version of the original cooktop is out of stock everywhere and an inch smaller on each side than the hole cut in the counter! Nothing is easy.

I ended up buying a slightly different version of the original model thats even slightly smaller ...but available. Guess it was made for another boat maker by the same manufacturer. Having a stainless steel trim piece made to allow support and fill the slightly bigger hole in the countertop. seaward doesnt sell a trim piece to accomodate an easy replacement. I bet there a thousands of these that need to be replaced in the marketplace but Seaward's choice to change the size of the model and not provide trim makes it just as hard to replace their old cooktop with a new one, as a different cooktop maker. Poor choices all around.

All told, total cost for cooktop, shipping, and hand made stainless ring trim...about $350. The next choice on the market was at least double this price so I opted to go with the more affordable choice. Not everyone though can source a sheet metal expert to handmake the ring. In my case it was a local well known aviation sheet metal maker that did the work.

By the way...duly noted that Kenyon quality and service is such that you can repair a 25 yr old model. Seaward says buy a new one!

Any thoughts on an induction cook top - I know it requires specific pots and pans - but seems to have better power controls and safer (less of a fire hazard)? My oem stove top is OK, but the temp controllers are really dinosaurs. I'm thinking a single burner would leave room for a microwave which I don't currently have a good spot for.

our Kenyon was terrific, and there customer service first rate. We changed to a Wallis as they double as two burner cooktop and forced air heater.

I just went thru the process swapping Kenyon single burner gas, with one of there induction ones after the gas one caught fire. They gave me 50% off the new one after the old one caught fire, unfortunately the shipping to Australia is quite expensive but to a local it would be an attractive deal.

So a big +1 for the Kenyon service.

Just a minor correction, I had the same discussion with Kenyon regarding replacement of my Kiss stove. I asked, if there was recall in the past due to leakage.
According Kenyon, this was only the case for there portable stove and not for the Kiss stove used by SR. As a fact, they still ship repair kit for overhaul.

The recall was issued for a portable butanestove that we offered also model b 23000 express stove. But here are some options. We have a repair kitavailable for you Kiss series cook top. We also have a replacement option ifyou decide to change out you Kiss cook top.

As mentioned, great service! I ordered repair kit.

I replaced my dual burner electric/ alcohol stove with a single induction some time ago....love it.
I had a piece of stainless cut to fit the template of the old burner and bought a 59.00 unit from target.

As long as a magnet sticks to the bottom of the pan it will work on the new burner.

When the pan is removed, the burner shuts down...

It has very precise control and does not heat the cabin at all...it heats the bottom of the pan and not the burner.
