I have two of the interior door handles that have broken springs inside the mechanism. The result is the door handle remains down and therefore will not latch. I ordered two new handles through my local Sea Ray rep 9 months ago and I'm just getting the same story that they're waiting for parts.... Has anyone had to replace their handles, and if so where did you go?

Your latch/handle was likely made by Mobella and Sea Ray no longer uses that particular latch which is why it is sometimes hard to get parts. But, Mobella was bought/absorbed/whatever by Southco close to 10 years ago. You might try contacting them (have a picture of your existing handle ready to send them, if needed) to see if they still make/have the same latch you have... or possibly take this opportunity to change the style completely. Another source for old Sea Ray parts is Flounder Pounder marine - you will probably need the part number from your parts manual. I believe there's even someone on ebay... Sea Ray Parts Guy - or something like that - never used him, only read about it.

I've got two broken springs as well - take one handle and reverse it - that works as a temp fix to keep the latch engaged until you can get new mechanisms. FP has some of the Mobella parts - including just the mechanisms for $88...

Someday one of us will find replacement springs...

Carter, if you can get into the lock and think you can replace just the spring... try a place like Mcmaster Carr - they carry LOT'S of parts like this.

My head handle did the same over the summer flounder pounder carries them for about $100 if I remember make sure you get the correct swing.

Try looking around at door hardware on boatoutfitters.com or giving them a call. You may get lucky.

LOL! Most of those designs are impossible to get into!!! Good advice on Mcmaster Carr!

I bought Mobella parts from FP for my 52. The Mobella handle and mechanism on the 58 is the same. I took the lock mechanism to a locksmith who characterized them as "irreparable". I couldn't live with the drooping handles for very long....If I remember I ordered them my first night on the boat.

They are repairable...we've done it at my machine shop. I bought two new ones online somewhere for $100 each then my guy was able to fix the others later for spares.
