2003 Bowrider, seawater cooled, single point drain. I used a magnetic plug socket that was $9.00 on Ebay. Took the day but was less difficult than I feared. 4 wood screws on port side hold wood bulkhead. Good access behind it but front two plugs were blocked by 1" coolant hose which came off after the usual struggle. Same hose on starboard although access panel was snap on fabric screen. I didn't drop anything into bilge and magnetic socket also helped to align and start plugs. AC 41-991 iridium plugs must have been .045" out of box but set to .060". Did not grease boots because Manual did not mention it. Old plugs were still .060" and new plug box said to forget about regapping. Figured I ought to replace the plugs anyway as I once had a SUV V-6 with 12 platinum plugs that developed a miss after 100,000 miles and replacing the plugs fixed it. Not that I had a problem; this was just routine maintenance.

Platinum and iridium plugs last forever, fire when wet with oil, are made in Detroit, and iridium is specified by Mercruiser. They are expensive but reliability and longevity are essential in boating. There is not a lot of room for comparison to full size copper electrodes for the recreational boater. My 8 iridium plugs were $20 on Ebay and are used by many GM autos and trucks. Does iridium have negative political or environmental costs? Like I said, my old plugs were still .060" and the box the new came in said "Forget about regapping."

Hell of a first date! Large bruises on underside of right forearm and right bicep, missing skin on right elbow. Reminds me of an old girlfriend in all her warpaint:

It was fun but we won't be doing this again for a while!

In my experience those plugs are too hot - They contributed to detonation that cost me a motor - the original plugs that mercruiser specd for this motor were superseded by the 41-991 plug and they are hotter than stock....Indmar actually put out a TSB instructing people NOT to use this "replacement" plug and to instead switch to the MR43LTS noted above - mercruiser just doesent give a shit - In any applications where the motor works hard (towing, heavily loaded, under powered) and gas can be of suspect quality, the hotter plug can spell disaster

My 2003 manual for my 2003 boat specifies AC 41-992s (2nd choice is Champion RS14PYPS) which are platinum and were still in the boat with about 500 hrs. Service Bulletin 2006-03 says to replace them with 41-993s which are iridium.
The Egyptians (and the Cayuse I just read) would execute a physician whose patient died or an architect whose building collapsed with loss of life. Your mechanic built the exploding engine. Anyway, heat range is different, depending on the length of the tip.
Copper plugs have conventional flat topped electrodes and are obviously not capable of the long haul. I read they are 20K miles plugs. I am loathe to contemplate another plug replacement during the anticipated tenure of Mitzi, my boat.
Sell a lot more plugs and do a lot more servicing with a 20K plug vs a 100K (the car book says 60K.)

Old saying on our dock, if your not bleeding your not working on your own boat.
I do t mind the blood, it’s the cuts that get fiberglass in’em that really suck.

It is becoming a privilege to be able to work on a boat as opposed to a car. Cars have immobilizer chips embedded in their computers which take a dealer to untangle, the software may be proprietary and intentionally made impossible and illegal to work on (like a John Deare tractor), and then there is the whole emissions thing where tampering is a felony and your emissions and/or your stored error codes can be checked. My last two cars have hidden cell phone boards to contact the manufacturer as to how much air I put in the tires and whether I need help (or I'm rendering domestic violence.)

The Govmt can listen to you in your bedroom by tapping into your cellphone. Even if you turn it off. The only way to eliminate 1984 intrusion is to put your cellphone in a pan of water when you are not using it. Then at least your voice will be garbled when you talk.

My Deere tractor (my wife is the Deare) can be made legal and easy to work on if you simply disable the flux capacitor.

Two of my boats now have VesselView, so I know what you are talking about. The pole-ice can hear me now too. But I avoid that by staying within the USA borders. Mr. Trudeau doesn't have a chance to catch me.

GM has had OnStar for years with a special little antenna everyone got used to. It is now incorporated into the shark's fin. My new Grand Cherokee has an "SOS" button on the mirror. The law is that, in every case of reported domestic violence, one of the parties must be arrested and jailed. I had to pick up my very reputable dentist from the hoosegow one evening. Ask your "Deere tractor" if she knows what would happen if she pressed that button (Women's TV keeps them informed) . I looked at the wiring of my prior XT5 with an eye to pulling a fuse on some of the Nanny features but found that the designated fuse was in the dashboard circuit and I no longer cared enough to trace the wiring further.
Here's a guy pulling the board. I recall there are better videos. I think on most GM vehicles you pull out the glove box and it is mounted on the firewall to the left. Also need to fast forward 1/2 way through. It does monitor your vehicle's mechanics and promotes trips to the dealer for service.

What law? What state? I call BS

WA State, from Findlaw:
"Mandatory Arrest
The law requires a police officer responding to an incident of domestic violence to make an arrest if the officer has probable cause to believe that a domestic violence assault or other serious domestic violence offense was committed within the previous four hours.
If the officer determines that family or household members have assaulted each other, the officer will arrest only the person he or she believes to be the primary aggressor. State law also requires mandatory arrest for violations of No Contact Orders and Civil Protection Orders.
I Changed My Mind. Can I Drop the Charges?
No, you cannot. If charges are filed, only the prosecutor has the authority to drop them."

The unusual thing about this law is that it was passed 50 years ago by the women's rights groups. Since then it has introduced a lot of guys to the legal system and been the primary occasion for police violence. Now the Progressives are sidestepping it by substituting talk therapists for cops as First Responders in cases of domestic violence through budget limitations. If she pushes that Help button on your rear view mirror, OnStar will have a GPS fix on your car and you better park it and call for Uber if you've been drinking.
