I'm not really enamored with the flat solid acrylic(?) transom door on my 2003 dancer. The new ones have a nice steel tubular frame all around them....is it possible to replace the old style with the new one?

I've thought about doing this as well because mine does not fit at all. Instead of modifying it to fit, I figured it would be just as easy to make a new door that looks better. If you have someone in your area that can fabricate SS or a shop that custom builds T-tops for center consoles, they should be able to make the frame for you along with fitting some hinges and tabs for mounting glass. Then, any glass shop can cut and install some 3/16-1/4" tempered glass in the frame. I'm guessing the whole assembly would weigh about 3x more than the stock door so you would probably need to reinforce the Fglass at the mounting point. I'd check accessability to the rear of the mounting point to see if you can even get to it to add backing plates before laying out any money.
