I have a 1999 400 SB and would like to replace the existing microwave (Panasonic Genius Premier 1100 model #NN-S569) with a new microwave convection unit.

Do any of you know if this is possible and if so what brand/model would fit in the existing microwave cabinet?

When Mine went bad i went shopping with a rule in my pocket, Hell yea! The one that was close to the opening came home with me:cool:

We went on Amazon, bought another Panasonic that had the same dimensions and with very little mod's had it in place in no time... (8 years ago)

With the convection units, pay attention to the airflow / clearance requirements. I know I’ll need to install a fan behind ours to help circulate air and keep the cabinets from cooking.

Yes, Thank you. That was one of my reasons for posting and asking if it can be done. I understand the convection units produce much more heat. The cabinet it’s in now has vents in the top but I’m not sure if that is enough.

Not usually a fan of Walmart...but they currently carry a combination air fryer/microwave/convection oven for $98. Fits great in our 400EC cabinet with plenty of air flow above, below, and behind. Same 900 watts and .9 cubic feet as the unit I removed (which I'm sure wasn't OEM). Works great, cooks quick and evenly, can't tell a difference between it and the 1200 watt unit we have at home other than the smaller size that the boat requires :)

Microwaves are like coffee makers. The dimensions change all the time, and they are cheap. New boat buyers should buy an extra coffee maker and an extra microwave and store them away for replacements. If you don't need them, sell them 10 or 15 years later at a profit to folks who buy older boats with worn out appliances.
