Hi all:
I'd like to change the color of hunter green stripe below the gunwale to better match the new canvas on my 1995 Sundancer 250. See the attached photo. Quotes I got are gelcoat paint for $2,200, topside paint for $1,300 or vinyl for about $600. I know the gelcoat/topside paints are longer lasting, but price is an issue and I'm leaning toward vinyl, which I'm hoping will last 3-5 years. Anyone have any experience or thoughts with going the vinyl route?
Thanks!

A good grade of vinyl (3M) should last you 3-5 years.
I would also think that you should be able to do it for less than $600.00. Shop around and see what you find.
Find a shop that does wraps. This would be a simple job for them. You can also have them cut it and put it on yourself.

I agree with Sprint. Should be able to find it cheaper and install yourself.

If you are taking the job on yourself, look into Avery A9 material. They claim it lasts 12 years, and is used in a lot of sign making. I've been using it on my boats to reproduce stripes for several years now. It will last 5 years, no problem.

They have many colors, and it is inexpensive. I found a 15" X 10YD roll of Black for $52 to my door.

Thanks guys. I will definitely find out what material they are planning to use and make sure it's the good stuff. I might watch and observe this time and do it myself next time.

i noticed the 'sundancer' logo on the side of the boat is dual color with the green and the tan color.....maybe you can use some tan color accent stripes along with the green side stripe...that way you don't have to remove/replace the green stripe and the combo color side stripe would match the logo.....
