I've decided to maintain instead of replace the ancient GPS on this 2000 310DA.

I'm a puddle water boater and rely more on my depth gauge than any other instrument on the boat. The GPS loses it's fix every time the power is turned off due to a dead battery in the antennae. You have to input a ballpark location every time you power up so the unit can get a fix on local satellites.

I climbed up the arch and disassembled the antennae. As I expected, The CR2032 is soldered in.

What's the best way to remove? Hold a soldering iron against the mounting plate until it comes loose? Or hold it against the battery? Is there more solder on the base of the battery/plate as well? -Kirk Out

If that is a raystar gps 120 antenna, there are videos about how to replace the battery on youtube, You have to be careful the battery doesn't explode. The other choice is to buy a raystar 125 that come up on ebay that has a replaceable battery. I've seen cheap $20 ebay antennas too that say they are direct replacements but haven't tried one. Need to do the same thing which is strange because my boat has B&G electronics, no idea why I would have an old raystar antenna on the arch.

I found a youtube video:

Brutal, I have to cut-off the battery holder, solder two wires to a sensitive exploding battery then solder wires to circuit board. Or, completely remove the current battery holder and solder a new solderless battery holder to the board. Oh man! Or, pay $180+ for a used Raystar 125: https://www.ebay.com/itm/284248292897?hash=item422e84be21:g:ip8AAOSwOO1gbOjG
