Replace ACR Spot RCL-100D w/ RCL-75? Has anyone made the swap?

It is a challenge for sure. I am retired, but not by choice, 56 y/o. Surgeon damaged my spine during a surgery and things are very different now. I hire-out for most projects, but my dock buddies are always there to help. I just hate to ask and would rather see them out on the water. And yes Dave, we get out quite a bit, drop the hook and spend the nite and sample the rum du jour. We are getting into our "nice" season minus the front lines that pass through here & there.

Sorry to hear about your back. Hopefully CSR can help a little with some timely info or how to. I bet your dock neighbor are just like mine, ready and willing to help out. Sooner or later we're all in need of a some help on these boats. For me, analyzing a problem, and getting a fix in place is at least 50% of my enjoyment.

Also on the bright side, your in one of the most beautiful areas I've ever had the privalege of boating in. Enjoy!!

Thanks Mike. My faith is very strong and I have a 1st mate who provides a lot of encouragement. She is the one who pushed for getting a bigger boat so we could go out when we want and not worry about the sea conditions too much.

David, I agree with you about the dock neighbors, I need to push myself a little more to ask for some help here and there. I enjoy the analytical side of it too, I owned an I.T. company for 27 years before I had to sell it due to my health. I need to use my brain a little more, security and I.T. forensics were my thing.

I may try to take the control panel off and use part of the troubleshooting guide and see where that gets me. The WX is supposed to be great tomorrow so we will just throw the hook somewhere and I will have plenty of time to work on it. I am hoping I don't have to get under the dash to remove the panel. That is not something I would do unless I am at the dock.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend and thanks again for the kind words of encouragement.

On my 2002 380DA, the ACR RCL-100D spotlight needs a new bulb and either the keypad or the controller is bad. So either way, the cost may approach the cost of the RCL-75. My questions is has someone made the swap from their 100? I am questioning the drop in candlepower which is supposed to be 200,000 for the 100D and 180,000 for the 75. It does not seem like a big difference, but there is a huge difference in price. The saying you get what you pay for comes to mind.

I am guessing the 100D that is on my 02 380DA is the original spot and I am concerned once I purchase one or two new parts or two for it, something else is going to need replacement. From what I understand, the new control wire is different and power may be different as well. Hoping I can use the existing wires as a pull wire for the new one(s).

Our plan is to upgrade the boat in a year or two so longevity is not a critical factor here although I want to leave the new owner a working light. If this was already discussed, my apology, couldn't find any hits when searched.

TY,
Vince
Hello, All....

This is a very old thread but hoping to poke the nest to see if anything returns. Thanks in advance to anybody who can chime in.

1999 400DA...Spotlight replacement project. Bottom line up front....I need to either 1) locate the legacy spotlight RCL-100D's master control module, or 2) find someone who has snaked a power cable from the anchor locker back to the helm's circuit locker. I think #1 is the easier course of action but I can't find it. If I can find the MCD, I can cannibalize the existing 100D's power cable for the replacement device. My MCD is not positioned in the anchor locker as described by another in this thread. Inside the helm's lower circuit locker, a coax cable emerges from the back of the 100's point pad controller, but, that coax runs out of the helm's circuit locker to...almost certainly, somewhere behind an aft-cabin wall. Can anybody advise how to expose wires in the aft cabin? Sincere thanks in advance....r/Mark
