The idea of a rendezvous at some of the ports on the lake is really a cool idea. I look forward to hopefully meeting up with some of you this summer. I am a relatively new member here but have been a member of other boating forums in the past. I was curious if there are ever GPS partys in the summer where a set of GPS coordinates are given for somewhere out on the lake and everyone meets up and ties off for an afternoon of fun in the sun? Kind of an open water party

Phasma, that idea (GPS Party) sounds like a great time. Our club hasn't done that but we do have frequent on-the-water parties. The biggest of which is always the Pizza Pigout. Last year we had almost 50 boats there. One of the members of the club is an owner of a pizza franchise and he takes orders from the people on the boats. The pizza joint cooks them and brings them down to a dock and he delivers them to each of the boats. Hence the name Pizza Pigout.

Hot sun, boats, water, babes in bikinis, pizza and beer. What a recipe for a LOT of fun!

Good luck with organizing a raftup with some of the local boats. I think you'll find that once it gets going it will grow every year.

Thanks for sharing the video and pictures, GFC!

Very cool!

All you club members that are setting up your plans for this summer, don't forget the annual Rendezvous. This year we are in Manistee on July 7, 8, and 9, at the Manistee Municipal Marina. Last year everyone had a good time in South Haven, let's see if we can repeat our success this year. A full itinerary will be published next month, and you can also find it on the facebook page for the city of Manistee. Activities could include Dinghy Parade on the river, Cook Out (BYOB), Euchre tournament, Breakfast Sunday morning. Also there are some new restaurants/bars in town to try out. I am working directly with the Marina to reserve slips. Contact me in order to reserve your slip with our group. Send me a PM or email me at jimvmcgee@hotmail.com. See you there! Thank you.

FYI there is an annual raft up in Grand Haven they call the "Floatilla". You can find details on Facebook each year. It's generally early September. Hundreds of boats...quite a good time for boats big and small, boaters young and old. A bit more tame than the usual July 4th and Coast Guard Fest crowds...
