I have a freeze plug to install its behind the motor mount. I have the equipment to hold the motor from the top so would it be okay to remove the mount to install the plug.
the engine would not have to be moved. I have no access to the hole other then this the clearance is just enough to fit the plug back in and that is it.

any mechanic on here who could give real advice would be appreciated.
By the way i've replaced the other bust items such as the exhaust manifold and ran the boat that is when the popped out plug was discovered.

thanks for any advice to be given

Threads keep stating I need to remove the drive then realign do you know anything about this. That’s why I was trying to remove the mount without taking the drive off. Can it be done

I did once. A 2x10 across the engine compartment with a come a long to support the engine. Kinda like changing a clutch on a front wheel dive car. Loosen the motor mount about a 1/4 inch and lift until engine is barely suspended then you will probably have to unbolt motor mount from the block to remove.

If you dont remove the drive first you risk mis-alignment and losing the coupler, Considering the busted manifold and the CORE plug you may have bigger issues from the incorrct/no winterization process. I would use a rubber plug or a rag jammed in there to see if the block is also cracked
