Remember that show....

As far as the port engine stuck in gear, the mechanic from here who normally works on the boat said he first thought it would turn out to be a control module that is mounted on the trans and controls the shifting. He took it out, disassembled it and found it in good condition. He made a few phone calls and after consulting with some Twin Disc experts they came to the conclusion that the trans needs to come out.

ugh, that sucks. I'm confused though. Is what you assumed was hynautic fluid actually trans fluid?

Another update. I talked with the marina in Portland this a.m. We're tentatively set for a window to bring the boat to them of 7/16-7/20. They will hopefully hoist it out of the water upon my arrival and put it on the hard. Then they will "triage" the transmission (their words) tp find out what's wrong and know what steps need to be taken going from there.

Thanks for the kind words. My wife said this morning that she's really surprised about how patient I've been over this whole thing. I just told her that we've been very lucky that we've owned this boat for 8 years and have had no mechanical issues that we've had to pay for. This is kind of the perfect storm of Murphy's law and I just have to work with it.

RC, yes. The mechanic from who knows just a little bit more than I do about things like that (Read that as a helluva lot more!) said it was tranny fluid. Me? I wouldn't know the diff once the fluid is out of the bottle.
