Refinishing Salon Table

That looks great. So your friend knows the secret sauce on how to redo these now he needs to share! :)
No sorry... He made it from scratch, he used the faded one as a template. I still have the original

He made the frame first out of cherry. The center is plywood with a veneer. The black border is epoxy, he left a small trough between the center and the cherry frame and poured black epoxy in there and sanded everything flat and stained. I did the clear epoxy coating as that wasn't his thing. I used Art grade epoxy and poured it.

Seriously old post but It saved me from wrecking my salon table.
I had the typical cracks in my table as well.
I sanded very carefully with 320 as i did not want to go through the original finish. The cracks really stood out after that sanding, they were raised so that really helped. I just sanded them flat. Then finished with 400 and a new coat of epoxy. Man! Looks like new. I didn’t sand through the finish thanks to all the previous posts.

How did you apply the epoxy and what was the product?

I used West System Epoxy. They have a very good website with instruction. Super easy to apply, just poor it over the table and spread it out. I did tape the underside of the table so I didn’t have a bunch of boogers hanging off the table. Make sure the table is level with lots of paper under it to catch the drippings.

Wow that looks awesome. Mine is the same. Not hazy but a few cracks in the finish.

Are you positive? I have looked closely at mine but I thought it was a solid wood table with a high gloss poly or epoxy coating.

If it is laminate it's wrapped clean around the bottom radius.
Mine is solid Wood. The top appears to be a burlwood style veneer. I just got done refinishing it. I stripped it to the wood by sanding then applied about 6 coats of varnish. Be careful with the sander once you close to the wood. The veneer is fairly thin and if you use a course sandpaper, you could go through the veneer. It came out real nice. Going to do the dinette table the same way. I did all of the interior trim the same way, which was also solid cherry.

That looks great. Mine has 3 large hazy areas on the top. I will look at their website.
Thanks
