Does anyone have any recommendations for a company or someone that redoes teak in the Lake Erie area. The boat that needs work is in the Port Clinton, OH area.

Thanks

No one?

I don't know about real teak.
I'm thinking about having Plasdeck installed on my swim platform.
It is synthetic teak.
They will come to Port Clinton, Catawba Is. area.
They are located In Copley Ohio .

Thanks! I'll look into that, don't want to spend a ton on an interim boat though...

I have heard good things about this company. I am not sure if they do teak. If they don't they might know of someone that does. They are on Rt 53 south of Rt 163.

Thank you! I've heard of them and have seen them around. I know that they do detailing and also shrink wrap a ton of boats in our area and in our marina! I'll inquire with them...

How do you define "redoes teak"?

Make it look new/good again.

I'm pretty sure that it needs to be stripped &/or sanded before new sealer/stain is applied. Mrs. Strypes and I were thinking about tackling it ourselves but we're running out of time and if it doesn't cost too much to hire a professional to do it and do it right, we figure why not?! I don't mind supporting local businesses!

We've heard from other do it yourself boaters many different ways of how to do it ourselves as well as the sales associates at West Marine and other Brick and Mortar stores. We can't seem to get a definitive answer on what the correct process is.

There was a company that we've seen at a couple of different boat shows(Cedar Point & Cleveland), but we never got to speak with them directly, just some kid that they had sitting at their booth and he wasn't sure on cost or the process. I can't remember the name of said company.

Thanks!

OK. Got it. I would look into folks who do furniture refinishing and folks who do floor refinishing. IF and that's a big if, it has not been varnished, cleaning is pretty easy and teak is pretty forgiving. Care and maintenance of teak is not that hard as long as you keep up with it. The USS Blue Ridge (LCC19) Quarterdeck is teak from a WWII ship.

I'm not sure if it has been "varnished" or not.

The only guys you should be talking to is Ship Shape Marine. I've been using them for 8 years. They do meticulous work and stand behind it. Their not the cheapest, but definitely the best. Ship Shape spends a lot of time researching products before they use them on customer boats and they know just about everything about various manufacturers.

That name, "Ship Shape", rings a bell! That may have been the company that we tried talking to at the boat shows. I thought that I grabbed one of their cards, but I can't locate it. I'll see if I can Google them later... unless you have their number &/or website handy.

Cheers

If you don't mind me asking, where do you boat at on Lake Erie, mostly?

What marina are you located at?

Cheers
