Redistribution of someone else's wealth

Why don't they give the children who support or contribute to their parents a tax break... It would solve many problems.

Whew.... glad I used the word "idiot" correctly....

So am I...After reading this thread, the term "idiotic" sure seems to apply with a few comments made here, opposing dialogue is one thing, but some comments makes one wonder if any thought processes were even attempted before commenting?

Hi All, Sorry for dropping off the radar for a while, I have been preparing to be among the jobless. The company that Iwork for is about to pull out of the country, about 1500 have been laid off already, plus the 10000 in Ohio who have been put on the street in Wilmington.

Alot of this was a deal that McCain put together and all he can do is talk tough and call for investigations, but this company doesnt care what he thinks, because its not an American company. They have been making plans to pull out for the last 3-4 years.

So you can talk all you want about the needy vs the greedy but I see it at all levels. From the poorest to the richest, and one thing for sure, you cant pay your bills or taxes, if you cannot work. I really dont care how much and where it goes because I live within my means, *Caveat* When I am working. And a news flash to these companies so worried about the bottom line and CEO salaries, that they lay people off to make things "look" profitable. Now you have no-one to buy your products, because nobody has the money to waste... whoops!

This government made the deals to allow our jobs to go overseas and over boarders and made it impossible for hard working people (whether from the inner city or out in the woods) to pay for the basics of life.

But dont worry guys, I will not be standing around waiting for a redistribution from you, my parents also instilled a strong work ethic in me, even though I grew up in the "inner city" and didnt have possums to shoot at, (the rats got them first).

Republican - Democrat doesnt matter, I dont know if anyone remembers what Osama bin Ladens goal was? To destabilze the US finanacial infrastructure. Looks like he's winning, masterful chess game if you ask me. Hit your opponent hard, go into hiding and let your opponent wear themselves out (can you say Ali - Forman?), Then take them out.

Last thing and thanks for the rant, Whoever gets the office is going to go through hell attempting to reverse this spin, and avoid the knockout blow, but if we dont work together, God help us all.

Business is cyclical. Our economy is cyclical. America has a progressive tax system. We are hearing a lot of election year garbage from parties with differing ideas and opposite priorities. There's nothing new under the sun. Look back over your lifetime at how many times you have heard these same "positions" and stump speeches. How has your life changed? In any given year, thousands of bills are passed by the legislature and a handful are signed in to law; how has your life changed. I'm not talking about the short term and I feel for you if you have lost your job, house or boat. The short term isn't the point I'm trying to make.

The American economy is the youngest of all the industrialized nations. Our experiment in democracy and our experiment in how we drive our economic process has only existed for a blink of an eye compared to nations that have been around for thoussands of years. We remain the envy of the world. A world that is affected immediately by a downturn in our economy as much as they are affected by our improving economy.

It will get better, and then it will get worse again. It doesn't matter who is in the White House. What matters is the 60 seats (needed to avoid filibuster) in the legislature and whether they still believe in the American philosophy on our economic engine. If they decide to "chuck" it under the bus, there's not a person alive who knows what the outcome will be.

I am a business owner and I help put about 100,000 +/- folks to work each year in America. We actually "live" the employment cycle nationwide every day. As best as we can tell from trends over the past 10 years in our business, things will indeed get better over time. Hang in there guys (gender nuetral), look closely at your congressional elections and make wise choices. The legislature drives the process and creates the laws for oversight and regulation, not the President. He just get's to sign it... or not.

Obama will never see my vote. The solution is going to be to close the income gap but certainly not by redistributing existing wealth. Too late for that. Incurable farsightedness and the fine taste of the candy has ensured that at this point. Even though rates on the highest earners have decreased since Reagan the dollar amount of their tax contribution remains the same due to their ever-increasing income. The unaffordability of homes is due in no small part to this same greed on the part of the highest wage earners in this country, and those greed-mongers instituted the poor lending policies and then force-fed the bad loans. When the average wage earner is once again able to earn at a level where a family can survive on one income this country may be restored. Until then, enjoy watching the class warfare continue to grow as the greedy rich sit in growing splendor while blaming the increasingly discouraged working class for the downturn in the economy. Look to history for the inevitable result of this scenario.

I agree with you here; We often do best as a nation when we have divided government, and if the Ds have both houses of Congress as well as the White House, our best hope is that they control no more than 59 seats in the Senate. Newt Gingrich realized this when he sensed that Dole was about to go down against Clinton, so he urged R voters not to stay away from the polls but to vote to elect R legislators to put a brake on Bill and Hillary, and he helped raise funds for some in tight races.

If the Ds get 60 or more in the Senate, where then do we turn? First we'd have to go to court to fight laws we think are unconstitutional, probably with mixed success. Then we'd have to take to the streets and demonstrate. Or we could take our toy shovel out of the sandbox and go home, and watch the economy implode.

Doug, you beat me to it. I just heard the 2001 Obama interview and was going to post it.

Did you see this one on YouTube where Biden was interviewed by an Orlando TV station and had a meltdown over tough questions? One in particular was "Is Obama a Marxist."

The aftermath was NObama's campaign committee canceled all other interviews and ads with the TV station. Guess they don't like tough questions.

This one is funny!

So, I have a question, and maybe it's just the circles I hang out in....

It seems everyone, well almost, "around me", CSR included, is scared to death of Obama. So why is he so far ahead in the polls?

I saw the interview on Fox news this weekend.

I also heard that Mr Obama will not do any news interviews till after the election. He has forbidden Mr Biden to also do any interviews. You are right, don't want to let the air out of his campaign...

Hope this is a wake up call for America.

Add this to a super majority in Congress if the dems do get in and the 25% cut in military spending on weapons they are already putting out is going to hurt badly...

This is just the beginning... Going to be a long 4 years. maybe two years if America wakes up and gets rid of some of the congress coming up for re-election in two years..

You surround yourself with those of like mind? Most of the people I know as well are for McCain as well, but there are also a good amount of Obama supporters. In my polls it is probably 60/40.

I am not voting. I think they both suck donkey balls. I dont think it matters one iota who gets into office this election. The time has come once again for the American PEOPLE to straighten this mess out, and not look to the gooberment to solve problems.

Yup, I brought this up yesterday - http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?p=153281#post153281 Can you say Freedom of Press?

Well. . . .the sentiment on this forum is certainly clear.

I live in Pennsylvania, on the fringe of Pennsyltucky. Most Republicans around here seem embarrassed to hold Republican views, and a number won't be voting Republican this year.

I was talking with a bunch of people in Texas last week. Some of them are serious 2nd amendment types who get upset when they have to travel to Canada because they can't bring guns across. . .(they may be able to. .but since they are travelling on Buisness, I am given to understand that there are "complications" they don't want to deal with). No support for McCain in that crowd. They won't vote for Obama either. . which translates to either skipping the top of the ticket or voting for a fringe candidate.

I wouldn't worry too much about 401K's under the Democrats. You saw how the Republicans were able to change Social Security when they held both the House and the Congress.

I read the Math book that Gary sent me. I fully understand now how you can decrease taxes and raise spending to produce balanced Federal budgets. The Republicans certainly have it right!

Bill, I can't believe what I'm reading. It really does matter which candidate gets into office. I think you are a small business owner (correct me if I'm wrong please) and surely you must see the merits of one candidate getting into office over the other.

I agree I'm not crazy over either man running and think it's sad both parties could not put forth better candidates, but I am going to vote for McCain.

It's quite clear if Obama get's into office, small business owners will suffer greatly. I read on this site that one small business owner said he would either sell or close up his business if Obama is elected.

I usually do not discuss religion or politics because everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I cannot sit by and let a Socialist like Obama get in office to redistribute the wealth, let the Dem's try and attach our 401K savings (see Gary''s post on this) and be taxed to death to give money to people who do not want to work. Surely you see the difference in candidates.

VOTING is one way the AMERICAN people can straighten this mess out. Please vote.

Sorry for the rant....now I feel better.

Yeah. . .Biden is proving to be a liability. But from what I am seeing in the news and reading on the blogs. . . the Republicans are failing to capitalize and are instead (once again) forming the circular firing squad.

Did any of you watch Fox News Sunday yesterday? Boy are those people depressed. I thought Bill Kristol was on the mark regarding getting Palin out in front of the people. . but I really think this advice is coming way, way too late.

I really think McCain does have some good ideas, but I don't think his campaign has ever found its "core message". It seems to be changing every 10 days or so. Some themes are good. Some are bad.

I wonder how his "Flip Pennsylvania" strategy will play out in the next week.
