I have recently purchased a 270 Sundancer and i have a few questions that I was hoping someone with a similar setup could answer for me, basic backround is that the boat is it has around 400 hrs, it is dirty but all the interior is there and there are no rips or tears, the hull and stringers seem to be in good shape according to the apprasel the question that i have is that it is powered by a single 330 merc and a TR2 outdrive, from what i can gather that is a TRX outdrive that has a longer lower end to acomadate a 20" prop, what i am wondering is how does the setup in the boat run (cruising, planing, top speed), is it a drive that i can count on to be strong and with out problems, and were can i find extra or new props that would fit this drive, any info would be greatly appreciated Thanks

Make no mistake you have a project boat there! Appraisals are not the same thing as surveys, so take that information with a grain of salt. But good luck.
Any 24 year old boat with only 400 hours is a question mark. It may be better or worse than expected. The hours really don't mean anything at this point.
My memory is that the TR drives were early attempts at heavier duty drives than the others of the time. Nothing too special about the propellers, except that the center mechanism was different than it is today. They should all fit with the right parts. Talk to your merc dealer. I tried to look up the drives but didn't find anything about the TRx vs the TR2.
Your boat will probably need a lot of attention and a few more bucks. But enough of us here have older boats. That is a nice model with a good engine. With the right attention it can make a great boat.

Thanks for the reply, I have been getting more and more into the boat and aside from the last owner attempting to install stereo speakers and cutting large holes in a key peice of teak the boat is great shape cabin is all there and every thing else looks to be it good shape should be in the water in about 3 weeks
