Hi Guys,
For those of you that have done this before on this model, how hard was it to access the nuts on the underside of the stanchions? I find myself in need of doing this project as several of mine are now loose. I would've posted in the 330 thread but I find a new thread seems to generate the quickest responses. TIA

Todd

I did it on our 290. I was alone, so I clamped small vice grips to the nut and went topside to remove. Tedious, but easy. We have access panels to all of the undersides so it was well designed.

Half of them were leaking, so it was time we’ll spent

I hope I'm as lucky. A quick survey didn't show any easy access but possibly removing a couple upholstered panels might give access by the fwd bed area. Fingers crossed! Thanks for the response.

In the process of doing mine in the next few weeks

Front 2 stanchions are accessed by dropping the plastic panel under the pulpit.Remove the stainless insert and you will find the exposed self tapping screws that holds it in place.Going aft on port side remove v birth upper panel 3(screws in pleat).Next move to the cabinet just in front of tv remove that panel(2 screws).Next stanchion is accessible in dish cabinet ,open zipper to gain access .Next one, you need a kid or small person ,remove microwave the access is way in back to the left. Next one is accessed thru the compartment in front of port side seat, look straight up .(use a 36 inch extension and universal for removal).Last one on port side is accessed thru the inspection port in the locker under the cockpit sink, you can also access it thru the pull down step.........Starboard..... remove the same panel in vee birth.Remove the panels in the hanging lockers fore and aft .Remove the stereo (4 screws )pull it forward and out look up in cabinet for an access port held in with 2 phillip heads. Next remove sub woofer in cockpit at helm .Note If boat wasn't equipped with a sub its a good time to consider it ,as the only other way to gain access to that stanchion is to remove the helm seat and inner panel to get to that one. Finally starboard side aft is thru the access panel by the wash down faucet in the rear compartment .Buy some extra 1/4 x 1 1/4 screws and nylock nuts. 2 tubes of lifeseal is enough to do all of the stanchions, and reseal the plastic panel under the pulpit.Hope this helps you all out

Awesome intel! Thank you!! I just started this today. I'd like to get the fwd bulkhead out too but couldn't figure out how, even after removing about 8-10 screws. I want to install a pair of 6.5 JL's in there & feed the wires back while I have everything apart.

Todd, there are screws going up and down thru that assembly behind the mirror and tambor doors (keep track screw length and locations). You have to remove the 2 side upper panels in v birth along with the starboard bolster in the v.The assembly is a very tight fit, pull it slowly ,use extra care that your not over stretching the vinyl possibly tearing it .Go slow

Thanks Tom. I did take 2 screws out of the top, behind tambor & about 8 in the bottom. The valence in front had two long screws in the middle and about 4 shorter ones to the outside. All of the bulkhead screws were the same length so far.

Awesome info, thank you. I'm in the process of replacing the front section of my bow railing as it was damaged over the winter. I also have others that need resealed and tightened. My question is, there is one stanchion on the starboard side directly beside the dash, I don't have a subwoofer so do I need to remove the storage compartment beside the drivers seat? Also what is involved to remove the drivers seat?
Thank you.
Al

Hi Al,
Forget trying to get that storage compartment out. I think mine is riveted in. Pulling the seat is a PIA. I just added a 4" access panel because you need to get pretty low to access the nuts to that stanchion.

Great idea, how hard was it to access the stanchion nuts through your deck plate?
