We moved from Lakefront Marina to Bass Haven this year. It has proven out to be a great move. Family owned, indoor pool with garage doors that can be opened, real clean restrooms, a convenient store where ice and beer can be bought, the staff is real nice and helpful. And the pricing is way better. The water is cleaner: had to constantly clean AC strainer before of Zebra Mussels. One of the biggest things in Bass Haven "No Mosquitoes" we can actually enjoy the boat at night time. Also met more people in the short time we've been here then the 2 years at the other marina. No wonder there is a waiting list for this marina!

Sounds like a great move... congratulations!

I see you can't stop bashing Lakefront... zebra mussels (muscles) now?...good grief. So glad you found a place you like...

I only tell the truth. When you contribute to a marina as I have in the past instead of expecting them to just take care of your wants you will have room to converse on such subjects. In order to further you in what was done in prior marinas next time you are on Latitudes boat do a bit of enquiring. And thank you for the mussels correction, spell check can be a nuisance at times.

Thanks JimG it was a good move. Along with being closer to the islands where I have always boated.

That is what is great about a boat....don't like where you are go somewhere else. I don't understand how you gain by continually bashing the place...everything you have said I disagree with and I am 6' from the slip you were in.
Enjoy your new place...

And there you have it LOL

Also $2400 verses $2500 is not a big difference in price between marinas. With the discount that was given to our group when we came there. That was better than $3500 normal cost.

That's the mind boggling part. You guys got $1,000 discount for two years....the minute you have to pay the price the rest of us pay... you guys bail.... and then turn around and bash the place... unbelievable
I am done Doug....stop bashing Lakefront and move on...

Hmmm Not sure what mosquitos and water clarity has to do with the over all marina? Mosquitos and water is nature. It is a well kept marina. Never said it wasn't , never said anything about the staff either not sure where you are coming from. As I said it just was not for me.

The only downside to being at Basshaven is the long boat ride to get out to the lake. We used to have a house at basshaven and that was one of the reasons we moved to Harbor Island, that and we out grew the house.

If you are outside the marked channel and no wake zone in East Harbor, you can run at planing speeds from Bass Haven to start of the main channel to the lake. Makes for a relatively short run. If you want a long ride, try the back end of West Harbor (where we dock) to the lake!

I know but I feel it still takes to long. We started out in Foxhaven in West Harbor then Bass Haven, then Harbor Island which is also West Harbor and I will take the short runs out to the lake over dealing with East Harbor.

I was not going to say much about my experience with Lakefront Marina. Since one said person has to get involved at saying to stop bashing the marina when I was talking about Zebra Mussels and mosquitos. First year signed up for heated storage, was kind enough to give it up for cold storage since over booked. No charge for cold storage and winterization. Although when I got to the boat in the spring. The heavy new 50 amp splitter was left laying on my recently redone cushion all winter and there was fine gravel all over the cushions and teak where they had walked. The new splitter was torn and had to be replaced. That become a hassle with the marina. When told that there was fine gravel on teak and cushions. They said do you want someone to wipe it off for you. The hot water tank was leaking where they had removed the line to winterize. “fittings stripped on hot water tank had to repair them.” The ice maker was not winterized properly needs parts replaced. When told, they never did anything about it. When boat was put in the water both seawater pumps for the motors needed replaced. “Kind of a strange coincidence.” Was charged to move boat outside $120 to be able to work on it. Charge was dropped since docking there.

This year could not come back up from Florida due to Covid in April. Had secured dockage at other marina for this year. Although nothing was stated to Lakefront Marina about it. The boat was brought out of the building with a charge of $120 again that had to be paid. When I got on the boat there was a gouge in the fiberglass on the transom door. The sliding door leading down to the inside of the boat was left wide open all winter. All three batteries were frozen and cracked. Had to be replaced: since they have a policy of not disconnecting the batteries when storing. Not sure how the insurance allows that. Was also charged over $200 dollars from May till June for outside storage. When confronting the marina management about it they did drop the fee.
The marina manager said you don’t plan on storing with us this year, do you? I said “ah that would be a no!”

That was my experience at that marina and I will not get into another discussion about it. I have been at other marinas over the years and never had these problems.

What exactly are you trying to gain by bashing this place? ... you are somewhere else now... go live your happy life

Because you had to get involved where it was none of your business. Just as you did here again. And I knew you would be the first one to post here. When someone is telling the truth it is different then bashing.

In reading the post about how the marina treated a boat while in their care is normal. Then I apologize for the post.

Every spring I have the boat moved outside so I can wax it in daylight for a couple weeks - No charge

Last summer bent a prop, hauled out, power washed, blocked, sent mechanic out to remove both props, sat for two weeks, put back in - No charge

I wonder what the difference is?

The year they overbooked heated.. they asked for volunteers to go to cold.... you weren’t doing them a favor... you did it for the free winterizing and storage discount... I simply said no

I really like Lakefront.. the people are incredible, facilities are excellent, yacht club couldn’t be better. When I see someone bashing it I have to wonder why.... what are you trying to gain?

I was asked to give up heated storage since I go to Florida in the winter time. And being thoughtfull I did so. Both my knees at that time were completely wore out that is why I had chosen heated storage. I had to climb up and down a ladder many times to unload the boat with the bad knees since it was already out of the water. So no as you had assumed the free storage was not a big favor to me at all!!! I had even sent pizzas to the marina for lunch and doughnuts in the spring for breakfast. I did have both knees replaced since then.
By the way they are looking for investors, you need to invest in Safe Harbor Marinas to let them know how much you like them. And 3 other boats left the marina that were docked on the same place I was this year. Interesting. No more to say.

Learned something new this weekend. When I got to the marina one of the boaters said you won't see any more of the little Martin birds this year. He said all of a sudden they just all up and leave. All the years boating and being on the water I never new that they all up and left the same time. Not sure it is that interesting to others but it was to me.
