RayMarine ST7001+ Auto Pilot

I have the Smart controller for this system, and it clearly states in the manual you cannot turn it off while the auto plot is on.

Well I have all electronics off, and It still will not turn off.

I press and hold down the "C" key, receive message that it is turning off in 3, 2, 1 seconds. It shuts down and about as quick as I can go to lay it down, it turns back on, looks for the auto pilot, then beeps an alarm message about not being able to find the Auto pilot.

And yes it is associated (registered with the pilot) Works very well when under way (sort of like cruise by remote)

I have the c120w and want to add the smartpilot and this remote is a nice addition as long that it work right.
RAYMARINE RECALLED THE SMARTPILOT X-5.
I wonder if there are other issues with the new electronics from Raymarine?$?$?$?
