Just took possession of a 2013 DA330 and noticed that my chart plotter frequently lost the GPS signal. But I could see the depth on the display. I did some searching and found a post saying that the Raymarine GPS receiver on the radar arch uses batteries. I don't know what model the receiver is, but I have a picture. Can anyone confirm that these receivers have batteries and may be the issue with signal drops?

You’ll have to pull it off and get the exact part number, however, I don’t see a Raymarine GPS receiver in that picture. The older versions do in fact have little batteries in them.

What MFD do you have?

I believe the GPS receiver is small off-color antennae behind the starboard side speaker. It's the best picture that I have. And unfortunately uploaded pictures seem to post upside down.

I'll have to get back to you on the Raymarine MFD model number. I need to check to see if it's listed somewhere within the software. The previous owner didn't leave me with any documentation and it's not prominently displayed anywhere on the outside of the unit

I think that is a mercury GPS unit and not the GPS antenna for your MFD

Yep. That looks like the one I have. Does this receiver require a battery? And if it's a Mercury receiver, I assume then that it's for the Vessel View, correct? THen where might the Raymarine GPS receiver be? Or maybe they use the same receiver?

I have a nmea 2k gps receiver for my vesselview7 ( this replaced the smartcraft unit) and shared by my MFDs
Not sure where your gps rcvr or which mfd you have. More pictures the better.

What is the the red arrow pointing too? Is that your GPS receiver or something else?

I would update the receiver to what @Shaps is showing, much more reliable.

Actually I'm not sure what that is. It very well could be the Raymarine receiver. I'll take a look next time I'm at the marina. But I agree with you and @Shaps about upgrades. I'm reaching out to a local marine electronics shop to make suggestions. Technology is one of those things you definitely want to keep on top of.

Good luck with that one, that is a VERY big can of worms and one needs very deep pockets to dig them up.
